Job Description:

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated  Healthcare Facility Engineer to join our team, supporting a large project at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The primary responsibility of this role is to provide professional engineering services focused on healthcare delivery processes and systems, ensuring appropriate infrastructure, facilities, and equipment are available to support the medical mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overarching professional engineering and/or architectural services to support healthcare delivery systems and processes.
  • Ensure that infrastructure, facilities, and equipment align with the medical mission's requirements.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of existing healthcare infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement or necessary upgrades.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement engineering solutions that enhance the functionality and efficiency of healthcare facilities.
  • Develop and oversee engineering plans and specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Monitor project progress, timelines, and budgets, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Support the integration of new technologies and systems within healthcare facilities to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations to leadership on engineering-related matters affecting the healthcare delivery process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Accreditation by ABET or equivalent coursework that includes differential and integral calculus and courses in at least five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics:
    • (a) Statics, Dynamics
    • (b) Strength of Materials (Stress-Strain Relationships)
    • (c) Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics
    • (d) Thermodynamics
    • (e) Electrical Fields and Circuits
    • (f) Nature and Properties of Materials (Relating Particle and Aggregate Structure to Properties)
    • (g) Any comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics (e.g., Optics, Heat Transfer, Soil Mechanics, Electronics).
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Must be fluent in English (read, understand, speak, and write).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare-related engineering projects, particularly within large-scale integrated healthcare systems.
  • Familiarity with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ healthcare infrastructure requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software to monitor timelines and budgets effectively.

Eligibility:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

The proposed salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 as a full-time employee or up to $80.77/hr. as a 1099 contractor.
