Job Description:

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Technical Specialist to support the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. The specialist will serve as the field-facing technical expert for Oracle Health implementation, ensuring the EHRM IO is prepared to optimize technical support in alignment with the strategic plan. Responsibilities include collaborating with OIT, BioMed, FMS, clinical and support services, and project managers to gather requirements, address technical dependencies, and advise on electronic medical record implementation. The role will work independently to resolve integration and compatibility challenges, ensuring systems and workflows meet VA needs.

*While this is a remote position, up to 70% travel is required*

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional work experience
  • Ability to work independently in designing and developing new software products or enhancements within a healthcare/clinical environment
  • Serves as the highest-level technical expert, addressing issues of systems integration, compatibility, healthcare semantics, informatics, and cross-platform functionality
  • Responsible for project completion and delivery
  • Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects and communicates recommendations to management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare IT, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related technical field (an additional 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements)

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the VA
  • Experience implementing Electronic Health Records

 Eligibility:

  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust clearance for this role

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Salary range: $140,000 - $155,000
