Job Description:

The Deployment Project Manager supports healthcare technology management (HTM) work associated with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Federal Electronic Health Record Modernization (FEHRM) program. This role coordinates simultaneous deployment projects and workstreams across multiple VA medical centers. The Project Manager works directly with national, regional, and site-level Biomedical Engineering and clinical teams, technical teams, third-party vendors, and program management offices across the VA enterprise.

Successful candidates bring recent, practical experience with medical devices, facility HTM operations, or healthcare technology implementation, along with strong project coordination skills. They can follow a technical discussion, identify an unresolved issue, ask questions to understand its impact, and turn that information into a clear status update or escalation for leadership.

*Travel associated with this role will consist of being away for about a week every 2 months*

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to coordinate HTM deployment schedules, site dependencies, equipment and interface readiness, testing activities, and go-live preparation across multiple VA facilities.
  • Track project milestones, risks, decisions, and action items; identify how unresolved issues may affect in-flight work or deployment readiness.
  • Work with facility HTM, clinical teams, Oracle Health, vendors, and program stakeholders to clarify ownership, deliverables, and milestone status.
  • Participate actively in technical and operational discussions. Ask focused follow-up questions when information is incomplete or conflicting, and track issues through resolution.
  • Escalate concerns with a clear explanation of the issue, its potential impact, the decision needed, and the next steps.
  • Prepare status reports, executive summaries, briefings, and meeting documentation that accurately capture decisions, owners, and follow-up actions.
  • Support planning and coordination through readiness, testing, deployment, and post-deployment follow-up.
  • Work within applicable VHA processes, federal requirements, and healthcare technology practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 5 years relevant professional experience.
  • Recent, practical experience in a hospital HTM department, medical device or imaging company, healthcare technology deployment, or a comparable field-based environment.
  • Experience coordinating projects or complex work across technical, clinical, vendor, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Working familiarity with medical devices and facility HTM activities sufficient to understand the work being tracked and recognize readiness concerns.
  • Ability to identify the project implications of technical issues and communicate them clearly to technical teams and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting VHA operations or a multi-facility EHR deployment.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Health Cerner Millennium or VA FEHRM.
  • Experience coordinating medical device integration, equipment readiness, testing, or go-live activities.
  • Familiarity with HTM equipment inventory or computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable healthcare regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Experience using tools, including AI-assisted tools, to improve documentation, analysis, or workflow efficiency.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal public trust clearance.
