Product Analyst Shop Insights
Product Analyst Shop Insights
Can you turn behavioral data into business breakthroughs?
How do you make our customers happy?
In business, you can’t take success for granted. Even a top-tier retail platform like bol.com (13 million customers, 52k sellers) has to evolve continuously to keep delighting and growing its customer base. Thankfully, we excel at evolving. During the last few years, we’ve pivoted from a ‘traditional’ e-commerce player to a retail tech platform, and from Agile to product-led methodologies. We also added a compelling proposition to the mix – advertising as people shop – which challenges search engine giants by offering advertisers unique opportunities to boost the relevance of their online advertising. All of these developments mean we have loads and loads of (new) data just waiting for someone to dive into it. Do you look fabulous in a diving suit?
What will you do as a Product Analyst Shop Insights?
We're doubling down on smarter, event-based measurement – and we need a sharp Product Analyst to help us unlock its full potential during and after the migration. This means we are looking for a data enthusiast that really understands data products. You’ll be the bridge between data, product, and people – guiding the implementation and evolution of our shop measurement tooling and broader (ecommerce & advertising) behavioural analytics ecosystem. You will:
- Act as the translator & communicator between data consumers (like analysts and data scientists) and the teams that produce the data, in order to successfully steer the data migration.
- During and after the migration we expect you, as analytics fanatic, to oversee the data product from tracking plan to end product and everything in between (e.g. validation and ELT/ETL pipelines). You will dive into the numbers using SQL and Python to uncover trends, diagnose issues, and propose data-driven improvements.
- Monitor and improve data quality, accessibility, and trust, working hand-in-hand with (analytical) engineers and product analysts.
- Collaborate on the design and governance of event-based behavioral data that powers insights into relevant business KPI’s (e.g. click-through-rates, conversion, engagement etc.)
- Support and influence key decisions by defining OKRs, and continuously tracking the impact of changes and innovations. You do this by designing and maintaining dashboards that help the team and stakeholders stay aligned with performance and strategic goals.
- Help drive the data governance strategy, making sure data is not just available – but also understandable and responsibly managed.
Your main focus will be on product performance and innovation by ensuring high-quality measurement of behavioral event-based data. This requires a crystal clear understanding of the data product, the platform and market developments, close stakeholder collaboration and alignment and continuous improvement of data governance and analytics tooling. As data steward, you will be in the lead for this.
In order to deliver a successful job you will be using tooling as event-based measurement systems for behavioral tracking, BigQuery and Python for deep diving and analysis and Looker Studio / Tableau for visualization. Automation will be done via dbt & Git, for which you will collaborate closely with engineers. Experience with event based (behavioral) measurement is a pro, as is data science/machine learning/AI experience. Having an interest in/a rudimentary concept of bot detection, running a platform and ecommerce & advertising together with solid analytical/data product experience is a must.
You’ll be part of a cross-functional product team alongside product managers, software engineers, data engineers, and analytics engineers. Plus, you’ll be a member of our vibrant Product Analytics craft line – where knowledge-sharing, innovation, and collaboration are a way of life.
3 reasons this job is(n’t) for you
- Accute business sense
You see data and technology as a business lever, not as a goal in itself.
- Product, data & tooling energizes
You bring a mix of analytical sharpness and product intuition and you know your way around SQL, Python, ELT/ETL pipelines and data visualization.
- Team and stakeholders first
You love sharing your unique knowledge and feel the same about learning from (cross-)team members: the more we share, the stronger the team, department and organization will become.
- Results are a by-product
If the analysis is complete, your job is done. What people do with those results and how they monitor the domain is their business.
- Free radical
You can only be successful as a free radical; any requirement to align people with different perspectives would spell disaster.
- Confined by cardboard
You only use the provided data and tools to gain insights and don’t even care what’s outside the box.
