Product Manager

Take a key product to the next level. And beyond.

How do you make our customers happy?

‘Traditional’ is not a term that generally applies to bol. However, we do have a tradition we’re very proud of: our drive to improve. Our transformation from a webshop to an open retail platform is the best-known example, but it’s not the only one; we’re constantly reinventing ourselves.  We recently even shed our .com heritage, and we’re currently in the middle of a hugely impactful transition from Agile to product-led. Do you subscribe to the idea that every product can always do a better job of enhancing the buying or selling experience? Take a key product to the next level. And beyond.

What you'll do as a Product Manager

Price is the number one deciding factor for consumers in the purchase process. For us as bol it is of highest importance that we understand and have grasp on our prices. This means we’re constantly balancing between consumer needs, partner interests and the competitive landscape. You’ll join  cross-functional Price Classification product team and together determine , validate the outcomes, and build the optimal product in iterative steps. As such, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic vision and execution of all product initiatives. You will lead a talented team, working closely with the Group Product Manager, Engineering Manager, product analysts, product designers, and relevant stakeholders. Formulate and promote the product vision, plot a course to overcome technical challenges, and inspire engineers to turn abstract product dreams into brilliant end-user realities.

This role calls for an innate ability to identify and prioritize issues and opportunities based on clear product objectives and the overall product vision. You will explore options, including contingencies, and devise plans with your team in a collaborative discovery process. Given the fluid setting, you need to deal well with a modicum of ambiguity and get things moving despite any uncertainties. Driving experimentation is the name of the game. And failures are simply an opportunity to learn: it’s how we get better each day.

3 reasons why this is(n’t) for you

  • Outcomes over output

You preach and practice outcome-driven product crafts(wo)manship.

  • Visionary +

You aren’t ‘just’ a product visionary; you know how to turn a vision into an actionable strategy and get teams and stakeholders on board.

  • Pole vaulting

You raise the bar and are not afraid to take a giant leap in driving the team to new heights.

  • Either/or

You’re a huge fan of qualitative analysis but shy away from quantitative deep dives. Or the other way around.

  • Labs are scary places

You have many enviable talents but lack an experimentation mindset.

  • Just shy of the experience mark

You have insufficient (<3 years) product discovery & delivery experience.

This is where you’ll work

At one of the best-known online retail tech platforms in the Netherlands and Belgium. A platform where 13.5 million customers can choose from over 38 million articles. A platform that helps roughly 50,000 commercial partners run their businesses. And a platform that will never be 'finished' because bol has been reinventing retail since 1999, and we fully intend to keep doing so. If there's a better way to do something, we're probably working on it! Together with our customers, partners, and over 2,800 colleagues. You will land in the epicenter of our product organization, which consists of about 35 multidisciplinary product teams that individually and collectively set the organization up for success and make bol a go-to shopping and selling destination.
