Job Description: Counsel Role (Associate Director)
Bond Vet is building the next generation of veterinary clinics from the ground up — and we’re looking for an experienced Counsel to join our team.
We’re looking for an experienced attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to join the pack as Bond Vet’s second legal hire. In this role, you will play a central part in supporting the VP, Legal in shaping our corporate legal strategy. Additionally, you will collaborate with various teams across the organization, including Finance, People, Recruiting, Marketing, Real Estate, Operations, Medical, and Technology.
In addition to supporting Bond’s operations through the negotiation of contracts, you will act as a thought partner to key stakeholders across our organization and will help create processes and procedures to support the company’s sustainable growth while mitigating risk.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working as in-house counsel, supporting healthcare organizations and/or with high growth companies. This is either a fully remote or a hybrid role requiring two days per week to be worked in-office at our corporate office in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York, NY.
Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and review agreements, with employees, vendors, strategic partners, and other parties to support the Finance, People, Recruiting, Marketing, Real Estate, Operations, Medical, and Technology Teams. This includes but is not limited to employment agreements, marketing agreements, SaaS agreements, NDAs and other contracts.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify business objectives and negotiate favorable terms while effectively managing legal risks.
- Develop processes, procedures and training programs, and provide guidance to ensure compliance across all facets of the business.
- Research, interpret, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations relevant to veterinary services.
- Work closely with internal teams, external legal counsel, and third-party vendors to achieve business objectives while ensuring legal compliance.
- Assist the VP, Legal in managing the relationship with outside counsel, aiming to minimize expenses and adhere to the budget.
- Collaborate with the legal and executive teams on special projects and initiatives as required.
Requirements
- 4+ years experience at a top law firm and/or in-house at a start-up, preferably in the areas of healthcare law, corporate law generally and/or negotiation of marketing and SAAS contracts.
- A JD from an accredited law school.
- Admission to at least one state bar and in good standing.
- Strong preference for experience with a high growth healthcare or retail company (experience with regulatory, customer and vendor relations).
- Functional knowledge of how to assist organizations in complying with local and state regulations.
- Exceptional judgment and ability to act decisively and with discretion in situations requiring quick but thorough analysis and decision-making.
- Proven track record of effective decision-making and interpersonal skills, including managing independent work-streams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation will fall between $150,000 - $170,000 annually based on experience.
15% bonus target, up to 30% bonus based on company and individual performance
