Manufacturing Engineer
Start the Best Work of Your Career at Boom
At Boom, we’re developing a supersonic airliner—and delivering on that vision takes more than bold ideas. It takes a hands-on, fast-moving R&D operation that can turn designs into real, testable hardware. We’re standing up a new machine shop and prototyping space to do exactly that. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support the buildout of this new capability—equipping our team with the tools, workflows, and production muscle needed to fabricate and assemble advanced components in-house. From standing up 5-axis CNC capability to developing manufacturing process flow, you’ll help shape the prototyping engine behind Boom’s next breakthroughs.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and test. If you love building the infrastructure that makes complex hardware possible—and thrive in a fast-moving, execution focused environment—we want to work with you.
Role Overview
- Stand up and scale a new machine shop with advanced CNC capability (5-axis)
- Build and evolve Boom’s R&D manufacturing and prototyping area from the ground up
- Design tooling and fixtures for fabrication, machining, and assembly
- Review and approve engineering models and drawings for manufacturability
- Collaborate with design engineers to influence and guide design-for-manufacturing
- Coordinate materials sourcing with the supply chain team to enable builds on time and on budget
- Work side-by-side with technicians and engineers to bring tools and parts to life
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in manufacturing engineering or a closely related role
- Deep understanding of NC machining
- Fluent in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings
- Proficient in CAD (for fixture and tooling design) and experienced with ASME Y14.5 GD&T
- Strong grasp of production quality systems and documentation
- Comfortable in both design reviews and on the shop floor—able to move seamlessly between them
- Clear, direct communicator across technical and operational teams
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
What Will Set You Apart
- Hands-on capability in machining, metal fab, or mechanical assembly
- Familiarity with laser trackers, measurement arms, or other metrology systems
- Track record of standing up new manufacturing spaces, shops, or toolsets from scratch
- Comfort operating in an R&D-heavy environment with evolving requirements
Compensation
The Base Salary Range for this position is $99,000 - $125,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees.
