Role Overview
As a Engine Systems Engineer at Boom, you will:
- Contribute to the design, analysis, and integration of engine and aircraft subsystems
- Build CAD models, assemblies, and drawings to support design, manufacturing, and assembly
- Support test planning and execution, including instrumentation setup, data acquisition, and analysis
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes, tooling, and work instructions for complex aerospace hardware
- Collaborate with propulsion, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs translate smoothly into hardware
- Troubleshoot issues during design, build, and test, driving solutions in real time
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly across multidisciplinary teams
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline (graduating in Spring 2026)
- Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals (mechanical design, fluid systems, thermodynamics, or materials)
- Familiarity with CAD modeling and engineering drawings
- Exposure to testing, prototyping, or process development through coursework, projects, or internships
- Clear, confident communicator who thrives in collaborative environments
- Detail-oriented, with curiosity to learn through hands-on engineering work
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and ambition, complemented by effective collaboration skills in a team setting
- Excels in a high-energy, independent, and challenging work environment
What Will Set You Apart
- Internship or project experience in aerospace design, testing, or manufacturing
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, machining, or fabrication
- Familiarity with test instrumentation, data acquisition, or propulsion systems
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, process optimization, or design for manufacturability
Compensation
The Base Salary Range for this position is $67,000 - $84,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include long term incentives/equity, a flexible PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.

Start Date
This position is expected to start in early summer 2026 (May or June) to align with typical graduation timelines.
