Boulder Care is looking for a Care Advocate Supervisor for a 100% remote, full-time position.

About this role

The Care Advocate Supervisor manages the daily operations of the Care Advocate team. This role involves regular communication with other clinical team members and the Manager of Care Coordination. Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for making hiring decisions, as well as offering coaching and career development support to the team.

The Boulder Care Advocate (CA) team plays a vital role in a collaborative pod structure, working together to guide patients with substance use disorders through their treatment journey. Care Advocates passionately advocate on behalf of participants, navigating traditional systems to address access gaps, discontinuity, and stigma. Supported by a clinical team - including physicians, nurse practitioners, and peer recovery coaches - and purpose-built technology, Care Advocates deliver critical services to empower patients and care teams alike.

Success in this role 

Team Development & Coaching - 20%

  • Conducts weekly one-on-one meetings with Care Advocates to provide guidance, support, and performance feedback
  • Delivers coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills, ensuring alignment with company goals
  • Works collaboratively with the Manager, Care Coordination, to identify growth opportunities and address performance gaps

Performance Management - 30%

  • Conducts performance reviews, setting clear expectations and providing constructive feedback to support career development
  • Utilizes performance data and key metrics to assess individual and team effectiveness, making data-driven coaching decisions

Process Improvement & Workflow Management - 25%

  • Develops, updates, and maintains policies and workflows specific to the Care Advocate team, ensuring efficiency and compliance
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and collaborates with leadership to implement solutions that enhance workflow and team performance

Strategic Problem-Solving & Leadership Collaboration - 25%

  • Analyzes operational challenges and proactively presents solutions to leadership to optimize team success
  • Engages with cross-functional teams to align Care Advocate strategies with broader organizational goals

Other Responsibilities

  • Takes on initiatives outside the supervisor role
  • Pursues continuing education above and beyond required certifications for the job

Requirements for the role

  • Experience as a Certified Medical Assistant required (or the ability to obtain a certification within 6 months of hire)
  • 5+ years experience in healthcare, such as patient advocacy, behavioral health, primary care, care coordination, or substance use treatment
  • Exceptional clinical skills working with a care team to achieve outcomes enriching people's lives by achieving sustained recovery, and the ongoing evaluation and iteration of our care model as the company grows
  • A passion for serving the needs of people with addiction and mental health challenges, using non-stigmatizing, non-judgmental person-first language
  • Proficient in using healthcare terminology, especially addiction medicine
  • Must be comfortable with technology and have experience with common business tools (such as G-Suite, video meetings, and spreadsheets)
  • Team-focused and collaborative. Advocates tirelessly for patients and Care Team members. 
  • Available full time during weekdays EST - PST. May occasionally be asked to work non-standard hours

Nice to have but not required

  • Experience in navigating the behavioral health system preferred (substance use treatment, crisis hotline, or other relevant experience as a liaison between patients and care teams)

Work environment

  • Changes to working location require pre-approval from People Operations and are not guaranteed.
  • Office Requirements: Boulder teammates working with sensitive information must have a dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to maintain a secure, distraction-free environment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards
  • Boulder Care employees are free to use our river-front HQ located in Portland, OR whenever they would like

Expected hours of work

This is a full-time, remote position expected to work 40 hours between Monday - Friday from 9am to 6pm PST

Compensation 

The starting pay range for this position is $60,000 - $67,000; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave).
