As a Staff Engineer, Lead, you’ll play a critical role in driving your team’s success by balancing strategic leadership with deep technical engagement. As a player-coach, you’ll guide your squad’s technical direction, mentor team members, and foster a culture of growth and accountability. Success in this role means delivering impactful results while empowering your team to own their work, innovate, and achieve their full potential. You’ll bring a deep understanding of the technical details while maintaining a clear focus on driving the broader vision forward.

What you’ll do here:

  • Lead and manage the 3-5 person squad, guiding your squad as a player-coach, providing hands-on technical direction while fostering team autonomy and excellence.
  • Own the success of multiple initiatives from inception to delivery, ensuring alignment with business and product goals.
  • Conduct code reviews, technical planning, and design discussions to maintain high standards and drive innovation.
  • Mentor and sponsor team members, encouraging skill development and expanding their ownership opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, reinforcing a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

What you’ll need to thrive:

  • 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience building scalable systems at scale.
  • 2+ years of technical leadership experience, including leading multiple large projects or managing teams.
  • A strategic mindset combined with the ability to dive into the details and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Expertise in front-end technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript) or backend systems (e.g., Elixir, GraphQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to solving problems.

How we’ll take care of you:  

Your total budgeted cash compensation for this role is between $190,000 and $220,000 USD, depending on your current skills, experience, training, and overall market demands. This range is subject to change, and there is always room for growth and advancement.
