As an Engineering Manager on our Product Platforms team, you’ll lead the development of the core systems that power our business, including domains like payments, commerce, scheduling, and integrations.

This role is backend and systems-heavy. You’ll work on complex domain modeling and platform capabilities where reliability, scalability, and API design matter more than UI polish.

You’ll partner closely with Product to shape systems that support multiple product surfaces, and coach your team through ambiguity, trade-offs, and long-term architectural decisions.

What You'll Do Here:

• Lead and develop a team of 5–8 engineers focused on platform and backend systems.
• Own systems that power key domains like transactions, catalogs, entitlements, and integrations.
• Partner with Product on complex domain modeling and system design.
• Drive architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Improve API design, system boundaries, and service ownership.
• Coach engineers on navigating technical ambiguity and trade-offs.
• Ensure operational excellence for critical platform services.

What You'll Need To Thrive:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers.
• Strong background in building and scaling backend or platform systems.
• Experience designing APIs and working across distributed systems.
• Ability to think in terms of systems, abstractions, and long-term architecture.
• Experience leading teams through complex technical problem spaces.

Nice To Have:

• Experience in FinTech, commerce, or platform ecosystems.
• Background with event-driven systems or service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with Elixir, React, or similar technologies.
• MBA or advanced degree in a related field.

How We'll Take Care Of You:

At Boulevard, we work hard to structure compensation in a way that balances internal equity with local market competitiveness, and we’re happy to share a good-faith estimate of the base salary range for this role. For candidates in NYC, the SF Bay Area, and Seattle, the anticipated base salary range is $173,000 - $216,500 per year. For all other U.S. locations, the anticipated base salary range is $153,500 - $197,760 per year. In addition to this base compensation, this role may be eligible to participate in a variable compensation program. Final compensation will vary based on a variety of factors, which include but are not limited to applicable experience, location, and final leveling.
