Senior Legal Specialist

Remote - USA

Who is Boulevard?

Boulevard provides the first and only client experience platform for appointment-based, self-care businesses. We empower our customers to give their clients more of the magical moments that matter most.

Before launching in 2016, our founders spent months interviewing salon managers and working behind front desks to understand their pain points so we could design a modern, user-friendly platform that meets the unique needs of their business. Our roots may be in hair salons, but we are built for the broader self-care industry, including many types of salons, spas, medspa, barbershops, and more. Our technology not only helps our customers survive but thrive. Take a look at how we (and YOU) can make that happen

We have an insatiable curiosity and embrace experimentation. We believe that simple solutions require the most sophistication, and we design each and every detail to maximize potential, power, and impact. Do our values match? Read through our story and what we value the most.

Our team values and celebrates our diverse backgrounds. Being open about who we are and what we do allows us to do the best work of our lives. We believe in equal opportunity for all, and you should too.

Come do the best work of your life at Boulevard.

The Senior Legal Specialist role sits at the center of how Legal supports Boulevard's business. You will serve as the first point of contact for many of the questions, requests, and issues that flow into Legal, helping teams navigate ambiguity, gather facts, identify risks, and move work forward quickly.

Legal operations is a big part of this role, but it isn't the whole job. You'll help build and improve Legal's operational infrastructure, and you'll also work hands-on across contracts, compliance, and corporate matters while partnering with teams in Sales, Customer Experience, Product, Payments, Finance, and Operations to triage issues, provide preliminary guidance, and determine when attorney involvement is required. As Legal increasingly leverages AI to scale, you'll also help pioneer how we use these tools, building AI-enabled workflows that let a lean team support a fast-growing business.

Success in this role requires equal parts operational excellence, legal judgment, business partnership, and a builder’s curiosity about how AI and automation can reshape legal work. You'll spend part of your time building scalable systems, playbooks, and self-service resources that make Legal more efficient, and part of your time helping the business solve problems in real time. If you enjoy operating at the intersection of legal, compliance, operations, and strategy, and thrive in fast-moving environments where no two days look the same, you'll love this role.

What you'll do here:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for inbound legal, compliance, and operational requests from across the business
  • Gather facts, identify issues, spot risks, and provide preliminary guidance using established playbooks and frameworks
  • Escalate matters appropriately, providing attorneys with context, analysis, recommendations, and proposed next steps
  • Draft, review, and manage a broad range of routine commercial agreements (NDAs, vendor and customer contracts, order forms) and shepherd them through signature and renewal
  • Support and continuously improve Legal intake, triage, prioritization, and workflow management processes
  • Build and maintain Legal systems, knowledge resources, playbooks, templates, and self-service tools, including the contract lifecycle (CLM), e-signature platforms, and AI-assisted review and intake tools.
  • Support corporate, governance, and related administrative matters as needed
  • Identify recurring questions, bottlenecks, and sources of friction, and develop scalable solutions to address them
  • Partner closely with attorneys and business stakeholders to help Legal support Boulevard's growth efficiently and effectively
  • Pilot, evaluate, and roll out AI tools across Legal, developing prompts, workflows, and guardrails that improve speed and quality while keeping a human in the loop for judgment calls.

What you'll need to thrive:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in legal operations, contract management, corporate paralegal, compliance, or a comparable business-facing legal role. We value demonstrated ability over an exact title or tenure, so apply if you have the depth even if the years don't line up precisely.
  • Business Partnership: Experience serving as a trusted resource to business stakeholders and helping teams navigate complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Legal Judgment: Ability to identify issues, assess risk, distinguish between routine and novel matters, and know when escalation is required.
  • Contracts: Comfortable reviewing and managing common commercial agreements such as NDAs, vendor contracts, and order forms.
  • Issue Spotting & Triage: Comfortable gathering incomplete information, asking the right questions, and turning vague requests into actionable next steps.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong process orientation with experience improving workflows, documentation, and systems.
  • Ownership Mindset: Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and drive work to completion without constant oversight.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-legal audiences.
  • Systems, AI & Automation: Hands-on experience using AI tools (contract review, drafting, research, or workflow automation) to improve efficiency, with genuine curiosity about applying emerging technology to legal work. Comfort experimenting with new tools and a point of view on where AI helps and where human judgment is still required.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity, rapid context switching, and supporting a wide range of subject matters in a fast-growing company.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build trust and credibility across functions and influence outcomes without formal authority.

Ideal backgrounds:

We're less focused on a specific title and more focused on finding someone who has successfully operated at the intersection of legal, compliance, operations, and business partnership. Backgrounds that often succeed in this role include:

  • Senior Paralegal or Corporate Paralegal
  • Legal Operations Analyst or Manager
  • Contract Manager or Commercial Contracts Specialist
  • Legal Specialist or Legal Coordinator
  • Compliance Analyst or Specialist with strong operational and stakeholder-management experience

This role is intentionally broad. Successful candidates are energized by navigating ambiguity, partnering directly with business teams, and building scalable solutions, not simply executing within established processes. We're especially interested in candidates who have championed AI or automation adoption within a legal or operations function. If you're excited about the work but don't meet every qualification, we'd still encourage you to apply.

How we'll take care of you:

At Boulevard, we work hard to structure compensation in a way that balances internal equity with local market competitiveness, and we’re happy to share a good-faith estimate of the base salary range for this role. For candidates in NYC, the SF Bay Area, and Seattle, the anticipated base salary range is $107,300 - $134,090 per year. In addition to the wonderful people you’ll get to work with and challenging projects that’ll push you - Boulevard is here to make sure you’re always at the top of your game emotionally, mentally, and physically.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
