Software Engineer III, Storage Content
WHAT IS BOX?
Founded in 2005, Box is headquartered in Redwood City, CA, and we have offices across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
The Storage Content team is the engineering backbone of Box's content infrastructure, responsible for building and evolving the systems that power all content storage and encryption across the platform. We architect, develop, and maintain the complete ecosystem that manages customer content and cryptographic key material, owning the foundational services within the Box’s Intelligent Content Cloud, including the core upload and download pipelines that handle millions of requests from users worldwide every day.
Operating at exabyte scale, we tackle complex engineering challenges around performance, reliability, and scalability—particularly as Box continues to expand and integrate with emerging products like Microsoft Coauthoring and Box AI. This involves significant software development work across distributed systems, storage technologies, and encryption services, where every optimization and architectural decision has massive impact. As stewards of some of the most mission-critical systems at Box, we're deeply invested in operational excellence and reliability best practices, yet we've only scratched the surface of what's possible in terms of performance optimization and innovative storage solutions.
As we embark on the mission to deliver best-in-class performance and reliability for our customers, both internal and external, we're looking for a Software Engineer to join us and play a pivotal role. You'll have the opportunity to work with a small team of talented, collaborative engineers, learning from and working alongside domain experts while solving some of the toughest challenges in distributed systems and content management. The work you do will have immediate impact on the productivity of some of the most important enterprises of our time, while providing exceptional opportunities for career growth and technical development in large-scale infrastructure engineering.
