WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
Box's Network as a Service (NaaS) team owns every network interaction at Box — from the edge of our platform to the deepest layers of our internal infrastructure. You'll work across both our Edge and internal network layers, building and scaling the distributed systems and software load balancers that power how Box applications communicate with each other and with customers around the world.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the NaaS team, you will drive the architecture, development, and rollout of critical networking solutions end-to-end. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers from leading technology companies, mentor teammates, and take full ownership of problems from ideation through impact measurement. This is a rare opportunity to shape both internal platform infrastructure and customer-facing products on the same team — with the scope and ownership to make a measurable difference.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- You will architect, develop, validate, and roll out distributed systems and software load balancers that support Box's internal and external networking infrastructure.
- You will take end-to-end ownership of technical solutions — from ideation and design through delivery, rollout, and impact measurement.
- You will proactively identify opportunities to improve Box's network and platform infrastructure and drive those improvements to completion.
- You will mentor junior engineers on the NaaS team, sharing technical expertise and supporting their growth.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver networking solutions that solve real business problems and improve platform reliability.
- You will participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

- Strong proficiency with at least one of: Go, Java, C/C++, or Rust; adept at designing reliable, observable services.
- You have a track record of delivering technical solutions end-to-end — owning problems from design through rollout and measuring their impact.
- You have experience mentoring engineers and contributing to the technical growth of a team.
- You have worked on cloud or platform infrastructure teams and are comfortable operating in hybrid environments with both in-office and remote teammates.
- You bring a collaborative, ownership-driven mindset and a bias toward completing problems fully rather than partially.
