As a Data Scientist on this team, you will help drive the integrity, accessibility, and performance of large‑scale data systems that support critical business operations. You’ll collaborate with technical leaders, project managers, and cross‑functional partners to understand data needs, enhance database environments, and build efficient data pipelines that enable meaningful insights.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who enjoys working with data, solving complex technical problems, and wants to grow in database engineering, data transformation, and scalable data operations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior management, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to define data requirements, data models, and implementation strategies.
- Write and maintain logical and physical database descriptions, including table definitions, data dictionaries, and system-level identifiers.
- Design, implement, automate, and maintain enterprise-scale ETL workflows for ingestion, transformation, and storage of structured and unstructured data.
- Modify existing databases and database management systems, performing schema updates, performance tuning, or directing engineers/analysts to execute required changes.
- Build data processing automation and ensure consistency, accuracy, and performance across data integration processes.
- Test programs, ETL processes, and database components; identify issues, troubleshoot errors, and support fixes or enhancements.
- Ensure data integrity and adherence to internal data governance standards.
- Support documentation of data workflows, system logic, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 0–2 years of professional or academic experience working with databases, data processing, or software engineering.
- Hands-on experience with relational or non‑relational database technologies (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Understanding of ETL concepts, data modeling, and data transformation workflows.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in data‑driven decision making and improving data system performance.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with ETL tools, orchestration platforms, or workflow automation (e.g., Airflow, SSIS, Glue, or custom pipelines).
- Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) or cloud‑based data services.
- Experience working with APIs, data ingestion frameworks, or streaming data.
- Knowledge of database optimization, indexing strategies, or performance tuning.
- Familiarity with version control, CI/CD, or collaborative development workflows.
- Coursework or project experience in statistics, data analysis, or machine learning fundamentals.
Salary Range
At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market. For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $36.06 to $38.46 USD per hour. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
