In this role, you will lead budget and headcount management for two large, complex client groups, partnering closely with senior leadership to drive fiscal discipline, forecasting accuracy, and strategic workforce planning. You will own the financial rhythm of the business, ensuring forecasts, actuals, and executive reporting remain aligned while proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
You’ll operate as a trusted advisor to General Managers, translating financial data into clear executive narratives and guiding decisions related to spend, resourcing, and prioritization. This role requires strong financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to independently manage end-to-end budget and headcount operations at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end budget and headcount management for two engineering-focused client groups
- Lead fiscal year planning, quarterly forecasting cycles, monthly close, accruals, and variance analysis
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand, prioritize, and plan headcount and budget needs
- Track actual spend against forecast and proactively identify risks, gaps, or potential overruns
- Develop and present executive-ready financial reporting, insights, and recommendations
- Translate complex financial data into clear narratives and implications for leadership decision-making
- Partner with engagement managers to ensure purchase orders are opened on time and aligned with forecasts
- Approve project budgets and expenditures, monitoring transaction controls and compliance
- Predict potential budget overruns and propose mitigation strategies or trade-off scenarios
- Work closely with General Managers and headcount planning teams to prioritize incremental and backfill requests
- Maintain and improve financial and operational processes related to budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning
- Follow up on budget- and headcount-related action items and communicate changes or variances to key stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics, finance, accounting, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in business operations, finance, or budget management roles
- Proven hands-on experience managing complex, large-scale budgets end to end
- Demonstrated experience managing both budget and headcount concurrently at a senior level
- Advanced Excel skills, including forecasting models, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Strong financial analysis skills, including forecasting, accruals, and trend analysis
- Strong executive-level communication skills with the ability to present insights clearly and confidently
- Ability to synthesize financial data into executive narratives beyond spreadsheets
- Experience working independently in a fast-paced, highly visible environment
- Strong attention to detail, judgment, and stakeholder management skills
- Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing budgets or finance within a large, complex enterprise environment
- Experience supporting engineering, infrastructure, or supply chain-related organizations
- Familiarity with allocation rules and resource planning frameworks
- Experience driving or supporting process improvement initiatives across finance or operations
- Comfort partnering directly with General Managers or senior executives

- Compensation Information
- At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market.
- For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $48.08 to $57.69 USD/hour. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and could fall outside the stated range
