The Position:

BPD is looking for a dynamic and experienced Director, Data Science to join our growing Data Solutions & Analytics team. The role will lead analysis with advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms that drive marketing strategies and enhance healthcare service offerings. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities and executing data modeling applications across a range of data sets including marketing performance data, health care claims data, client EHR and CRM data, and consumer databases. The ideal candidate will have experience building models that can be leveraged to create audience segments for marketing campaign initiatives. In addition, the role requires proven experience in leading data science for marketing applications and a passion for healthcare marketing. You will collaborate cross-functionally with project management, product strategy, analytics, data engineering and account teams to ensure the success of our data solutions & analytics products, operating as a senior individual contributor, with potential to grow a team.

The Responsibilities:

Includes, but not limited to the following:

Product Development:

  • Design, develop, and implement large scale data science projects such as building audience-based propensity models to predict healthcare-related behaviors and outcomes

  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and other analysis to build and improve our data product offerings

  • Utilize advanced statistical methods, data transformation and machine learning techniques to build accurate, reliable and scalable marketing models

  • Implement validation techniques on both structured and unstructured data sets

  • Lead the deployment of marketing list selection models designed using consumer databases

  • Deploy automation, open source, and AI-driven technology to enhance speed to market and accuracy where appropriate

  • Develop or adopt advanced marketing models for strategies such as marketing mix or multi-touch attribution

Advanced Data Analysis and Interpretation:

  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform marketing strategies

  • Interpret model outputs and translate findings into actionable recommendations and visualization for clients and internal teams

  • Ensure the quality and performance of AI models presented to clients and prospects

  • Collaborate with client-focused data scientists and analysts to develop and implement data-driven solutions across use cases

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including internal and external stakeholders

  • Develop and grow a team of junior data scientists, providing guidance and support in model development and analytics

Data Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure data governance and security best practices are implemented across our data solution and product workflows, working closely with leadership

  • Monitor and manage data privacy and security, particularly in relation to sensitive health claims data

Innovation and Optimization:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously seeking opportunities to improve data systems and processes

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and incorporate best practices into the team's workflow

  • Provide recommended enhancements to existing processes and systems

The Essentials:

Insert the non-negotiable skills & experience needed.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mathematics, analytics, data science, statistics or a related quantitative field

  • 8+ years of experience in data science, with a proven track record in building and deploying propensity models for marketing use cases

  • Experience with a variety of analytic techniques such as marketing mix models, next best action models, time series forecasting, ROAS lift models, attribution models, statistical significance testing

  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data transformation and data integration

  • Knowledge of relational databases and ability to design efficient data models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema)

  • Expert with SQL for querying and data transformation

  • Expertise in Python or similar programming for modeling, data manipulation, scripting, and automation

  • Deep experience and understanding of digital marketing data processes and infrastructure

  • Proficiency in creating dashboards using tools like Tableau and Sisense

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical skills and a high degree of business acumen

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, combined with exceptional presentation skills

  • Proven ability in handling concurrent projects with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Curious and interested in solving multi-dimensional problems

  • Ability to contribute individually and participate in cross-functional teams with a positive attitude

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to create great working relationships at all levels of the agency and with clients
