Group Account Director (Pharma)

The Position:
We are looking for a Group Account Director to lead all aspects in serving your assigned portfolio of pharmaceutical clients. You are a seasoned marketer with deep experience in the pharmaceutical category, energized by building trusted client partnerships and growing the business. You are the voice of the client inside the company, leading the internal BPD team to ensure the client’s needs and goals are being met on every project. You will be accountable for providing an exceptional client experience across every interaction, for securing the best possible work at a profitable return for the firm, and for developing a deep understanding of your clients’ business, their brands, patients and providers, and the broader market.
The Responsibilities:
Includes, but not limited to the following:
- Serve as primary contact for both pharmaceutical clients and internal teams for all elements relative to your clients.
- Ensure the BPD team is successful with execution of the entire client engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior-level clients along with day-to-day client contacts. Build confidence and credibility among key client contacts. Stay connected with clients throughout all stages of engagement.
- Work closely with the VP, Principal to lead the implementation of the account strategy.
- Ensure all creative and media work aligns with client’s brand and overall marketing strategy.
- Develop ongoing strategic recommendations that solve business objectives for your clients, above and beyond contracted client engagement.
- Maintain deep understanding of your clients’ industry, consumer profiles and competitors.
- Help lead pharmaceutical clients through the commercialization journey, from clinical development and pre-launch planning through FDA approval, launch readiness and commercialization.
- Guide positioning, brand strategy, market development, HCP and patient engagement, launch planning and integrated/omnichannel activation for pre-commercial and launch-stage brands.
- Partner across Commercial/Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical, Patient Services, Sales/Field, analytics, market research and competitive intelligence to develop cohesive commercialization strategies.
- Navigate the pharmaceutical regulatory and promotional environment, partnering effectively with Medical, Legal, Regulatory and Compliance teams throughout the MLR review process.
- Incorporate market access, reimbursement and patient-support considerations into brand, communications and launch strategies.
- Develop strategies that effectively engage key stakeholders, including HCPs, patients and caregivers, KOLs, advocacy organizations and other influential audiences throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare and present strategies, media plans and creative concepts at client meetings.
- Monitor account satisfaction, manage client account review and own client conflict resolution.
- Educate clients on additional BPD capabilities, identify cross-sell opportunities and initiate new projects for client.
- Develop campaign/project proposals.
- Supervise strategic development and implementation of client programs across all aspects of client work.
- Consult with the Creative Director on creative output and ensure alignment with strategic direction and client business goals.
- Be an advocate for the firm and advise the client on the optimal amount of time needed to develop the best work possible.
- Lead weekly client-facing status meetings.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to manage existing client revenue goals and projections, and manage individual client profitability.
- Responsible for final out-the-door billing.
- Create case studies for past campaigns.
- Prep for existing and new client pitches.
- Any other duties/responsibilities will be addressed as they arise and are needed.
The Essentials:
- 10+ years’ experience, including significant pharmaceutical marketing experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with an ability to clearly, concisely and confidently articulate information and recommendations.
- Excellent presentation-building and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking.
- Pharmaceutical marketing experience is a must, including knowledge of pharma-specific industry processes and terminology.
- Proficiency in Veeva PromoMats and familiarity with the MLR review process strongly preferred.
- Must have understanding of the overall media landscape and experience launching multi-channel integrated campaigns, including knowledge of digital media channels.
- Team-oriented player and effective leader - ability to lead, inspire and collaborate with large cross-functional team. Willing to “roll up the sleeves” with a can-do attitude.
- A service-oriented mindset, focused on delivering high quality work, and always anticipating client and internal team needs.
- Must thrive in a fast-paced environment with an ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel as needed.
