SUMMARY: Responsible for building customer relations and increasing/maintaining customer's business. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Acts as a sales representative and liaison between customers and the office.
  • Develops new customer accounts by cold-calling various locations in their territory with product literature.
  • Visits and supports customer accounts. Schedule weekly appointments with customers and plans a weekly call schedule.
  • Performs analysis on customer needs and uses. 
  • Ascertains current market opportunities.
  • Increases sales to existing accounts. Maintains territory quota for weekly and monthly sales calls.
  • Establishes systematic customer contact to provide on-going information.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on customer support programs.
  • Identifies customer problems and/or needs.
  • Researches and provides competitive parts sales data.
  • Maintains customer data files.
  • Creates and maintains territorial listing noting classification of customer and frequency of calls.
  • Attends sales meetings and reports sales activity, new account development, and upcoming itinerary.
  • Maintains records of sales, customer information, and requests by updating data.
  • Processes orders by sorting, verifying accuracy and adjusting as may be required.
  • Notifies customers of specials.
  • Possesses knowledge of the Trane product line to be able to demonstrate and discuss with customers.
  • Provide backup support for inside sales.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
  • Regular travel requirements with some overnight travel

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Provide responsive, professional and diplomatic customer service 
  • Answer customer calls and correspondence quickly and pleasantly
  • Communicate with customers in a friendly, professional, and patient manner
  • Perform all duties with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships
  • Immediately address any customers concern and requests the involvement of other Company personnel as required

SAFETY:

  • Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to Parts Leader
  • Notify Parts Leader or Safety Manager of any unsafe conditions

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to four years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency in Microsoft office programs is required, as well as a general familiarity with computers, and the ability to learn new software applications. Knowledge of Salesforce and Dynamics is a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Drivers License, Proof of personal insurance

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard, and telephone and effectively communicate with others. The associate frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb a ladder and stoop or kneel. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This position works in a typical office environment (work from home is limited and needs to be approved by manager). The position spends the majority of their time visiting customers offices, plants, and jobsites. During these travel situations, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
