Position Summary:  

The Associate Director, Commercial Analytics & Reporting will influence strategic commercial decisions including brand performance, forecasting, sales force effectiveness and market access optimization using advanced analytics and data driven insights. A key focus of this role will be to analyze market and brand performance trends as well as to conceptualize and build algorithms and/or models to quantify business risks, opportunities, efficiencies and brand strategy across all commercial functions. This position also supports building and/or maintaining dynamic reporting tools to support the Commercial organization as well as other functions.

Specific Duties:

Modeling and Analytics (50%)

  • Sizing and evaluating strategic business opportunities.
  • Market mapping and/or data driven customer segmentation (HCPs, patients, payers) aligned with brand strategy for downstream use by key functions (Sales Operations, Market Access, marketing, etc.), utilizing machine learning algorithms for enhanced precision.
  • Mapping of referral patterns, sphere of influence, patient journey, and/or prescription journey.
  • Use Python and SQL to build new analysis and support existing queries, with an ability to integrate AI/ML libraries and frameworks.
  • Play a supporting role in one or more of the following:
  • Develop novel models utilizing marketing mix modeling coefficients
  • Influence sales/marketing optimization and effectiveness using advanced analytics and modeling.
  • Forecast modeling including quantification of risks and opportunities, sensitivity analysis and scenario planning for inline and business development assets, leveraging time-series forecasting models.
  • Sub-national IC to ensure targets and compensation structure are in line with forecast assumptions and sales optimization guidance at both the national and subnational levels.
  • Market Access modeling to quantify impact of payer contracting, market payer landscape and/or distribution strategies.

Reporting (35%)

  • Monitor market and brand performance against commercial cross-functional strategic and tactical execution to optimize brand performance including monthly presentations
  • Primary responsibility for building, maintaining, documentation supporting and training users on internal dynamic reports leveraging AWS Redshift and QuickSight to support Commercial functions and teams, with an eye towards insight extraction using natural language processing (NLP).
  • Drive change in the organization through surfacing data insights to stakeholders.
  • Support development/reporting of account-based sales.

Data Strategy (15%)

  • Manage subscriptions for ongoing data purchases.
  • Support evaluation of (and potential migration to) alternative claims databases and cost/risk/benefit tradeoffs.
  • Identify data gaps and seek effective solutions.

Skills:

  • Required:
    • Hands-on experience with analytical data warehouses (Redshift or Snowflake)
    • SQL, Python and/or similar programming working knowledge utilizing AI for optimizing code generation
    • Ability to translate general business questions into analytic queries and/or models and strategic insights, including articulating how AI/ML can help solve business problems
    • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel
    • Effective communication and presentation skills including data graphing and ability to translate complex advanced analytic concepts into compelling presentations to influence both technical and non-technical business partners (Story Telling)
    • Ability to partner with and influence cross commercialization functions including Sales, Sales Operations, Market Access, and Marketing.
    • Project/vendor management skills
    • Understanding of AI ethics and responsible AI practices
  •  Preferred:
    • Hands-on experience with AWS, including AWS AI/ML services (e.g., SageMaker).
    • Statistical experience, including advanced statistical modeling and experimental design for AI validation.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant technical certifications
  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical Commercial analytics or similar experience
  • Experience with common pharmaceutical industry databases (such as IQVIA, Symphony Health, Specialty Pharmacies, Specialty Distributors).
