Description:
This position provides technical expertise to the Maintenance & Reliability Organization.
Position provides counseling and consulting on a variety of process and equipment issues, including detailed calculations in order to make cost effective decisions and recommendations.
Job Responsibilities
- Knowledge and understanding of sound engineering practices and principles relating to mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment design, installation and maintenance, including hands on troubleshooting of pumps and compressors and extruders.
- Knowledge and understanding of Predictive technologies including vibration, thermography, lubrication analysis and ultrasonics.
- Responsible for conducting root cause investigations of mechanical equipment failures
- Responsible for leading reliability centered maintenance, Criticality and FMEA studies
- Responsible for projecting mechanical equipment maintenance capital needs and running projects as appropriate
- Responsible to acting as owner of mechanical equipment standards
- Responsible for equipment benchmarking and metric analysis to improve equipment reliability
- Responsible for establishing and driving reliability engineering principles and best practices.
- Responsible for providing technical support to the capital organization for new equipment purchases.
- Responsible for leading multidisciplinary team during plant shutdown recovery situations
Requirements:
- Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering
- Seven years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical or refining industry.
- Experience in fixed and rotating equipment, including compressors, pumps, extruders, and other plant-related equipment.
- Experience in the application of reliability methodologies/technologies
- Understanding of equipment damage mechanisms.
- Experience in writing or interpreting internal or Industry standards for mechanical equipment.
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written), leadership skills, and interpersonal skills for positive interaction with others in all levels in the organization.
- A balanced strategic and tactical focus, creativity and innovation, and problem solving, analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be a self starter and have high performance standards.
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Well developed leadership skills in a professional environment; competent working in a cross-functional matrix environment
- Ability to handle complex, abstract problems from identification to resolution
- Ability to think in overall broad terms and negotiate solutions with other related organizations.
- Experience with predictive maintenance with Certifications in vibration, oil analysis, thermography, etc
- Experience with Fitness for Service and Reliability Based Inspection
- Experience with Reciprocating compressor design, troubleshooting and repair
- Experience with extruder design, troubleshooting and repair
- Experience with Centrifugal pump and compressor design, troubleshooting and repair
- Experience with Fixed equipment inspection and repair including certifications in API 510, 570 and 653
