Description:
Braskem, a global leader in the production of bio-based materials, has recently opened a new renewable research and development facility in Lexington, MA. This new 35,000 SFT facility will bring together scientists and engineers from a variety of disciplines to ideate and develop novel technologies for the production of bio-based chemicals and materials. We are looking for an Analytical Research Associate to join our team.
The ideal Analytical Research Associate candidate will have a background in the field of analytical chemistry, preferably in support of metabolic engineering and/or fermentation-based bioproduction processes. In this role, you will work alongside a team of Scientists and Research Associates supporting research initiatives at our Lexington, MA, location. The ideal candidate will have experience executing analytical methods to characterize and quantify small molecules. The ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and agile team to deliver against aggressive deadlines is essential. Expertise using techniques including GC, HPLC, and LC/MS is required. An adaptable and agile mindset that thrives with flexibility, newness, and change while upholding quality standards. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability and drive to maintain commitment to scientific excellence and high-quality work in a fast-paced, milestone-driven company are essential.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
- BS or MS in analytical chemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field
- 0 - 5 years of industrial experience, preferably in an analytical chemistry group at an industrial biotechnology company; relevant graduate research will be considered
- Perform analytical testing that supports various activities in early development
- Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation, including but not limited to GC, UPLC, and QQQ mass spectrometers
- Review and deliver reports to multidisciplinary R&D team members
- Track assay performance: execute detail-oriented data mining, trending, and statistical evaluation to assess assay performance and data integrity
- Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results to the manager and other team members
- Work collaboratively with other R&D team members to accomplish project goals and milestones
- Use creative problem-solving skills to troubleshoot experimental challenges
- Apply DOE methodology to optimize assays for minimal CV and increased reproducibility
- Ensure accuracy of data and timely turnaround of results coming out of the Analytical Chemistry group
- Analyze, summarize, and present technical data to the manager and other team members
- Work collaboratively with other R&D team members to accomplish project goals and milestones
- Detail-oriented tracking and documenting of experimental results and instrument performance in electronic laboratory notebooks and company databases
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not need any current or future sponsorship
