Description:
The Project Manager for the Neal site is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of capital projects, serving as both the project management and the on‑site construction management focal point. This role integrates all phases of project development — from Front End Engineering (FEL) through engineering, procurement, field execution, commissioning, and close‑out — ensuring safe, compliant, and competitive project delivery aligned with Braskem’s Capital Work Process and site requirements.
Position oversees project scope, cost, schedule, risk management, contractor performance, quality, and field execution. This includes direct leadership of all construction activities at the Neal site, ensuring field work is performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Federal, State, Local, PSM, and Braskem standards.
The role works closely with operations, maintenance, HES, site leadership, engineering contractors, construction firms, procurement, and the regional Capital Investments organization. Although based at the Neal site, this position reports to the Project Leader responsible for the Northeast region and plays a key role in delivering the regional capital portfolio.
Key responsibilities include FEL development, constructability reviews, construction execution planning, progress tracking, quality assurance, turnover preparation, and project performance reporting. The Project Manager also contributes to annual portfolio budgeting, project prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives within Braskem’s capital execution framework.
Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering with >10 years of project management/engineering experience. Strong technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and those outside the Investment Group. A self-starter who works well in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities. Proven record leading process projects through design and field implementation. Ability to plan, monitor, and execute multiple projects
- Must be self motivated, results oriented, have solid interpersonal skills, and be able to deal with all levels in the organization. Must be creative and innovative, and demonstrate strong problem solving, analytical, organizational, and planning skills. Must be comfortable challenging and providing technical feedback to team members and contractors.
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Experience in FEL (Front-End Loading) methodology;
- Experience in Project Engineering Management with External Contractors.
- Demonstrated experience leading field execution activities, including contractor management, construction planning, and safe work coordination.
- Experience in evaluating process design packages (PDP) or conceptual design packages (CDP);
- Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;
- PMI certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience with providing data and reviewing project schedules (P6 or MS Project) and cost estimates;
- Possess skills to be able to contribute in a team environment and establish work relationships with onsite and offsite functional groups to achieve results;
- Must also have excellent computer skills, excellent verbal and writing skills, along with computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Good knowledge of the interdisciplinary engineering fundamentals.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident).
