Medical Assistant (Remote)
About Brave Health
At Brave Health, we are driven by a deep commitment to transform lives by expanding access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care. By harnessing the power of technology, we break down barriers and bring mental health treatment directly to those who need it most—wherever they are. As a community health-centered organization, we are dedicated to ensuring that no one is left behind. Nearly 1 in 4 people in the U.S. receive healthcare through Medicaid, yet two-thirds of providers don’t accept it. Brave Health is stepping up to close this gap by making mental health care accessible, affordable, and life-changing for all.
Job Overview
We are seeking a full-time Medical Assistant (MA) to support our psychiatric providers and contribute to patient care through administrative and clinical duties. The MA will play a crucial role in managing tasks such as prior authorizations, medication refills, lab coordination, and side effect management, helping to streamline operations and enhance patient outcomes. This role involves both patient-facing responsibilities and backend administrative support, working directly under the guidance of the Clinical Administration Supervisor.
This position is entirely remote and open to candidates from a number of states with a requirement to work an Eastern time zone schedule. The full-time work hours are scheduled from Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, with a one-hour lunch break.

- Medication Refills: Receive refill requests through multiple channels, notify providers, and ensure timely processing of refills. Contact pharmacies to confirm prescription availability as needed.
- Side Effect Management: Collect and document patient-reported medication side effects, and relay this information to providers for timely action.

- Genetic Testing (GeneSight): Coordinate logistics for genetic testing, ensuring that kits are sent to patients, tracking completion, and managing result processing in Brave’s EHR.
- Clinical Escalations: Act as the first point of contact for clinical escalations, gathering critical patient information and ensuring timely communication with providers. Prioritize escalations based on urgency and severity, ensuring swift resolution of patient issues while adhering to Brave Health’s clinical protocols.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain clear communication with patients regarding appointment needs, test results, and medication refills via phone and SMS.
- Ensure proper documentation and timely updates of all patient interactions, including refill requests, lab orders, and side effect reports.
