The Role: 

This is a client-facing role that combines accounting expertise with consultative communication. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to prospective clients, assessing their financial health and recommending tailored solutions to support their goals. You won’t manage ongoing books—instead, you’ll help clients get started on the right foot by evaluating their needs and proposing the right scope of services.

You’ll work closely with our Growth and Onboarding teams, and your work will directly support Breakwater’s mission of helping organizations thrive.

What You’ll Do 

• Conduct financial pre-assessments for new or potential clients, analyzing income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and other key data
• Communicate clearly and kindly with clients about their financial health and how Breakwater can help
• Prepare detailed proposals and recommendations based on each client’s unique needs
• Keep accurate records of interactions, proposals, and progress in Hubspot (CRM)

Who are You?

A team player and effective problem-solver seeking a long-term fit with a fast growing company that truly values its employees and clients. 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• A QuickBooks Online (QBO) expert, comfortable navigating client files and spotting red flags (experience is within the last 5 years)
• At least two years of Accounting experience in either for profit and nonprofit organizations. If you have experience in both we’d love to hear more about it! 
• You are resourceful in coming up with solutions and a confident communicator who can simplify complex financial topics 
• You love being part of a collaborative, mission-driven team
• Bonus: You’ve had sales or proposal-writing experience, or enjoy consultative roles

• This position will be offered a base salary of $75,000-$85,000 plus commission on new revenue generated through your hard work and relationship-building
