All of our team members are guided by Breakwater’s Core Principles. We are: proactive, positive, purposeful, protective, prepared, and principled.

Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy professional to help us streamline workflows and implement financial technology solutions. We’re looking for someone who can work independently with clients and our internal team without needing constant oversight. This role has great potential for growth within the organization over the next 5 years.

The Workflow Implementation Specialist will be responsible for consulting with clients in recommending, implementing, configuring, and supporting software solutions such as RAMP, Gusto, Dext, Bill.com, Divvy/Spend & Expense, and similar platforms. This role requires a mix of technical know-how, accounting and payroll knowledge, and strong organizational and client service skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and configure financial and workflow software for client accounts (Uncat, RAMP, Gusto, Dext, Bill.com, Divvy, etc.)
  • Drive payroll software setup, including earning codes, PTO policies, and employee data configuration
  • Work with client teams to map software integrations to the chart of accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting
  • Work directly with clients to assess their needs, recommend best-fit software solutions, and design effective workflows using flowchart software such as draw.io
  • Document processes and create standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support efficiency and consistency
  • Support internal adoption of workflow improvements across a multi-client environment with competing priorities
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients during and after implementations, providing guidance and troubleshooting

Who are You?

  • Tech-forward and process-oriented—you enjoy solving problems through both people and systems.
  • Organized and adaptable—you can juggle multiple priorities across multiple clients.
  • Client-focused—you know how to build trust and deliver excellent service.
  • Independent but collaborative—you don’t need hand-holding, but you thrive in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll administration, and/or financial software implementation
  • Familiarity with payroll concepts (earning codes, PTO policies, compliance basics)
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and chart of accounts structure
  • Experience with the following: Gusto, Uncat, BILL or/or RAMP, BILL Spend & Expense (formerly Divvy) and/or Dext, or similar financial tools
  • Proven ability to document and improve processes through SOPs and workflow mapping
  • Prior involvement in software selection and implementation projects
  • Knowledge of cross-platform integrations (QuickBooks Online, Xero, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client projects at once
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with experience working directly with clients
  • Experience in an outsourced accounting or client-service environment strongly preferred

What would we offer you?

  • A supportive, friendly, fun culture that truly values work/life balance
  • A base salary of $50,000 - $65,000
  • FIVE weeks of PTO on top of company-observed holidays
  • Health, vision, and dental benefits
  • We'll help you save for your golden years with a 401K company match
