A Staff Accountant II at Breeze Airways will be focused on a variety of key accounting roles including but not limited to ASC 330, 360, 606, and 842. Come help us account for our Assets, deal with our Liabilities, and grow our Equity!
Here's what you'll do
- This position is primarily responsible for research and review of all the Company’s Fixed Assets and Inventory balances
- Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Assist in training and onboarding entry level employees in the accounting department.
- Work closely with external/internal auditors responding to queries and requests.
- Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, making recommendations to optimize financial performance and strategic position.
- Track department and project spends implement best-practice financial processes that are effective, efficient, and contribute to maintaining and monitoring the financial health of the company.
- Thoroughly review revenue activity for charter, scheduled, and third-party services.
- Ensure all areas of their scope adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Partner with technical supply chain to manage fixed assets and inventory.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as needed, such as data collection, compilation, reporting and process automation and presentation, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bring to light significant accounting updates during the year to prepare for financial audit, updating accounting Fixed Asset policy as necessary
- Plan and coordinate new CAPEX projects related to the Company and discussions with departments to identify them
Here's what you'll need to be successful
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a staff accounting role.
• A high-level understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Proficient in Excel software for the automation of journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial analysis purposes.
• Excellent analytical skills with an ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Airline experience reviewing revenue, fixed assets, lease accounting, and/or inventory
- Experience with Oracle ERP accounting software.
