The Flight Operations Engineer is responsible for assisting with matters pertaining to aircraft performance, weight & balance, flight planning and dispatch systems development. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating with all relevant departments to provide technical input, undertake engineering projects, and address the day-to-day needs of the airline.
Here's what you'll do
- Coordinate with the performance provider, AeroData, to troubleshoot issues, develop procedures, and implement solutions providing new functionality to IOCC and Flight Crews
- Assist with the oversight and maintenance of the weight & balance program, including updating aircraft weights, investigating W&B related delays, and assisting with the development and testing of software solutions
- Assist with systems support required for electronic load sheet and any associated weight & balance procedural changes
- Perform integrity checks of aircraft navigation databases as required
- Analyze payload, range, and route considerations for proposed new stations
- Evaluate takeoff and landing performance and route analysis to identify operational risks and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements
- Assist with any associated risk assessments for new airports for both scheduled and charter operations
- Track fuel burns to assess and recommend fuel management initiatives
- Monitor aircraft performance degradation and oversee the update of performance factors both in the flight planning system and across the fleet
- Facilitate the implementation of RNAV Visuals and/or coded Charted Visuals at applicable airports
- Manage the Jeppesen content for pilots and dispatchers and serve as liaison between Jeppesen and Flight Operations
- Assist with systems and procedural modifications required for projects such as ETOPS and RNP-AR
Here's what you'll need to be successful
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Prior experience with aircraft performance, weight and balance, and airline operations
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
- Experience with technical data analysis
- Superior analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and the ability to use bowsers effectively including iOS
- Knowledge of basic computer and electronic tablet devices
- Able to read and comprehend guidance as found in required manuals
- Able to work varying schedules including reserve duty, weekends, evenings, holidays, and last minute drafting
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Embraer E170/190 or Airbus A220 type rating
- Knowledge of Airbus A220 and/or Embraer 190/195 aircraft
