Breeze Airways is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Corporate Communications Manager to help lead external communications and to support select internal communications initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Communications, this individual will play a critical role in shaping and protecting the company's reputation through proactive media relations, executive visibility, crisis communication planning, and high-stakes regulatory and financial communications.
The ideal candidate is a confident communications leader with agency and/or travel industry experience, deep media relationships, and a proven track record in strategic planning, message development, and reputation management. This person must be a self-starter who is comfortable interfacing with senior leadership and managing and mentoring a small, but passionate team of communications professionals.
***This is a full-time, in-office role based at Breeze Airways’ headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition, some travel will be required for media events or crisis support.***
Here's what you'll do
External Communications Leadership
- Serve as the day-to-day lead for all proactive and reactive media relations, including spokesperson duties.
- Drive and execute external communications strategy to elevate Breeze's reputation in national, regional, and industry media.
- Lead high-stakes strategic communications efforts related to operational and financial performance.
- Manage executive visibility, including thought leadership content, interview preparation, speechwriting, and media coaching.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters and media outlets, including industry, local, and national business press.
- Create and manage press materials including news releases, media kits, and Q&A documents.
Crisis & Issues Management
- Lead the development and implementation of crisis communications plans.
- Act as a primary media contact during operational disruptions and reputational threats.
- Provide guidance to executive leadership on messaging during sensitive or high-stakes situations.
Internal Communications Support
- Partner with the Director of Corporate Communications to support internal messaging and engagement during company milestones or disruptions.
- Develop employee-facing content that reflects Breeze’s brand voice and values.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and develop a small team of communications professionals.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to direct reports.
- Collaborate closely with other departments and leadership to ensure message alignment.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to department leaders across the organization.
- Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence.
Here's what you'll need to be successful
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in public relations or corporate communications.
- Strong background in media relations, with an emphasis on crisis comms, regulatory environments, and executive visibility.
- Experience supporting financial communications for earnings or capital events, particularly in regulated industries.
- Demonstrated experience managing direct reports and developing team talent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a PR agency setting
- Experience in the airline, travel, or hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with IPO or public company communications.
- Relationships with national and industry business press and broadcast press.
Skills/Talents
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong strategic thinking, prioritization, and project management skills.
