What You’ll Do
The Sr. Director, Biostatistics, is responsible for statistical activities in support of Medical Affairs activities, including contributing to providing scientific and methodological expertise to support medical strategy, publications, and external engagements. This role will ensure the highest quality statistical input in the design, execution, interpretation, and communication of analyses that inform medical decision-making, health outcomes, and scientific exchange. The successful candidate will also interact with internal and external cross-functional study teams, supporting interactions with the medical community, and manage contract research organization (CRO) programmers and statisticians in preparing analysis files and performing statistical analyses.
Responsibilities
- Oversee statistical support for medical publications, scientific congresses, and external collaborations
- Guide statistical design and analysis for investigator-sponsored research and collaborative studies
- Ensure methodological rigor in analyses supporting medical insights, value demonstration, safety monitoring, and lifecycle management
- Partner with senior leaders in Medical Affairs, HEOR, and Clinical Development to define statistical strategy in alignment with medical objectives
- Translate complex statistical concepts into clear, actionable insights for scientific and clinical audiences
- Promote innovation in statistical methods, real-world data analytics, and digital evidence generation
- Establish best practices, processes, and standards for statistical support in Medical Affairs activities
- CRO / Vendor Oversight: Establishes procedures through regular interaction, setting expectations on deliverables and timelines to guide CRO biostatistician and statistical programmers. Ensures deliverables are accurate and delivered according to the timelines
Where You’ll Work
- This a U.S-based remote role that will require quarterly, or as needed visits to our San Francisco, CA office.
Who You Are
- PhD in statistics or biostatistics and 12+ years relevant experience in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry, with significant experience in post-approval / Medical Affairs settings
- Strong knowledge of statistical methodologies, current drug development trends, and regulatory environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to identify and investigate issues and causes independently and formulate potential solutions
- Strong publication record and experience supporting scientific communication
- Proven leadership in cross-functional, matrixed environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent programming skills in SAS and/or R
- Ability to work as a part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment and to work collaboratively with external partners and vendors

Salary
$255,000 - $300,000 USD
