Role Overview

The Strategist serves as the key bridge between the investment team and BCIM’s prospects and clients. They will be responsible for partnering closely with the commercial team to achieve business goals via delivering high quality investment and economic insights. Such partnership requires deep understanding and thoughtful communication of Bridgewater’s macroeconomic research insights, investment thinking, and a strong sense of ownership over clients’ investment goals.

Ideal candidates are hands-on operators who thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast paced environment, with a strong focus on excellence and high standards. They will be expected to provide strategic partnership, visualize and shape complex investment insights, and execute on day-to-day tasks. Candidates must have a track record of excellent judgment and integrity. Candidates should be aligned with BCIM’s open and idea meritocratic culture, willing to seek improvement through identifying problems and openly give and receive feedback.

Responsibilities

Maintain an in-depth understanding and knowledge of Bridgewater’s economic and market outlook, investment approach, and performance by working closely with Bridgewater’s investment team onshore and overseas. Analysis, forecasting and assessment of key factors impacting global economies, particularly China.
Lead the creation of all written and visual client communications and analytical work – developing of global and China economic and market outlook, new perspectives for client reports and presentations, writing investor education pieces, leading client related research projects, etc. 
Represent Bridgewater’s investment team externally in client and prospect meetings by presenting and answering questions on Bridgewater’s market outlook, investment approach, and performance.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years experience in an investment research or investment strategist role, with strong expertise in global and China macro.
Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record, advance degree highly desirable. 
Strong knowledge of and passion for markets and economics.  
Intellectually curious with excellent analytical capabilities and a high degree of common sense and problem-solving skills. 
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal. 
Thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast paced, high growth environment with an open and idea meritocratic culture. 
Fluent in Chinese and English.
