About Bridgewater

Bridgewater Associates is a premier asset management firm, focused on delivering unique insight and partnership for the most sophisticated global institutional investors.

Our investment process is driven by a tireless pursuit to understand how the world’s markets and economies work — using cutting-edge technology to validate and execute on timeless and universal investment principles.

Founded in 1975, we are a community of independent thinkers who share a commitment to excellence. By fostering a culture of openness, transparency, and inclusion, we strive to unlock the most complex questions in investment strategy, management, and corporate culture.

Our Culture

Our culture is anchored in excellence, meaning constant improvement, and it is deeply tied to our mission. Because markets are objective, competitive, and getting smarter every day, we need to keep rapidly improving to have any chance of beating them. Truth is our most essential tool for engaging with the markets and constantly improving because once you know what's true about your problems and opportunities, you can determine how to get better. Valuing truth means being transparent about your decision-making and mistakes, giving and receiving feedback with humility, and fighting for the best answers over hierarchy, ego, or self-interest. Operating this way is hard – it's only possible because we build meaning in our work and relationships. This meaning comes from the audacity of the mission, and the joy of working alongside people who make you a better version of yourself. The culture, like Bridgewater itself, is always evolving. In 1997 our founder Ray Dalio wrote down his lessons, starting with a Philosophy Statement which remains our foundation. This later evolved into a set of 300+ Principles. In 2022, when Ray transitioned the company, we re-underwrote several of those principles and evolved others, with a specific focus on Meritocracy. Today the culture sits, alongside our people, as our most important edge. When we get it right, it’s the engine that powers everything else.

Job Summary

Responsible for building and driving the insider threat program — proactively monitoring for employee and insider risk, developing and maturing detection tools and processes, and partnering closely with the business to embed threat awareness into day-to-day operations. This role also provides oversight for employee investigations and interviews when needed, in partnership with HR or Legal. The ideal candidate operates autonomously, guides a team of peers through influence, develops junior team members, synthesizes data to assess and escalate threats, and briefs senior leadership. This role also contributes to strategic planning and helps shepherd the firm's insider threat capabilities forward as the technology and threat landscape evolves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the insider threat program, including proactive monitoring strategy, tooling, and detection capabilities.
  • Lead project development for new insider threat initiatives — scoping, planning, and driving cross-functional work to completion.
  • Partner with business stakeholders across the firm to build insider threat awareness, gather input on risk areas, and align monitoring priorities with business needs.
  • Synthesize data and threat signals, weigh severity, and escalate appropriately to senior leadership.
  • Stay current on industry trends, tools, and technologies, and champion adoption of new capabilities to keep the program ahead of emerging threats.
  • Operate autonomously, exercising sound judgment and taking initiative on security matters.
  • Guide and develop a team of peers and more junior staff, providing mentorship and growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and the long-term roadmap for staff security and insider threat.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and training programs related to insider threat.
  • Provide oversight and direction for employee investigations when needed, including investigative interviewing in partnership with HR or Legal.
  • Brief senior leaders on insider threat posture, program progress, and key risks, with clear recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Information Technology, Organizational Science, Organizational Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Criminology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in insider threat, staff security, security program development, or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies and monitoring tools used in the industry.
  • Project management skills — able to scope, plan, and drive initiatives to deadline.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; comfort synthesizing data to assess risk.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience partnering across business functions.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to program-level planning.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring or guiding team members without direct authority.
  • Interview and investigative skills a plus, for occasional case work in partnership with HR/Legal.
  • Knowledge of best practices in insider threat detection and employee risk management a plus.

In addition, to succeed within our unique culture and work environment, individuals must demonstrate humility, innate curiosity, and openness to new ideas and approaches.
