
Sr. Estimator

Summary/Primary Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sr. Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project specifications and drawings to determine accurate cost estimates, collaborating with construction site teams, and utilizing specialized software to prepare detailed estimates. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil/site construction, superior estimating technique, excellent research and analytic skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

- Analyze project specifications and drawings to determine accurate cost estimates.
- Estimate costs for construction projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements.
- Collect data and analyze all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate.
- Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs.
- Update costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes..
- Collaborate with construction site teams to gather necessary information for estimating.
- Utilize software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed estimates.
- Conduct thorough research on materials, labor, and equipment costs.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids for projects.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, suppliers, and project managers.
- Participate in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs.
- Perform neat, orderly and accurate takeoff and pricing with no supervision or direction.
- Produce proposals and assemble bid packages required by the procuring entity.
- Effectively and articulately communicate work product to the Director of Estimating.
- Interact with project owners, engineers, subcontractors and vendors as needed.
- Create complete and fully functional Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, a related field or equivalent industry experience.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial construction with a broad understanding of the company’s main self-performed trades.
- 5+ years of experience performing takeoff, complete pricing, and organization of complete estimates.
- Experience with overall ground-up construction through completion for site/civil projects.
- Proficiency in using HeavyBid, Blue Beam, Excel, Word.
- Ability to learn new software platforms, if implemented.
- Ability to conduct thorough research on cost related to materials, labor and equipment.
- Knowledge of value engineering principles and practices.
- Maintain a positive image of the company with vendors, subs, clients and teammates.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to conduct thorough research on costs related to materials, labor, and equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with construction site teams and various stakeholders.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position may have supervisory responsibility.
Expected Hours of Work & Compensation:
An employee is expected to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws, while exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. Overtime requirements will be determined based on the operational needs of the organization. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Brightcore also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to complement the base salary. The base annual salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000 and is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel may be required up to 15% to office/work/project sites in the greater Northeast Region and/or East Coast (but not limited to) of the United States.
- Office presence required at least three (3) days per week, unless otherwise agreed upon with final approval by direct supervisor.
