The Opportunity

Brightflag is seeking a talented Software Engineer Intern for the summer months to join our growing QA Test Automation team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our legal operations platform through the design, implementation, and execution of automated tests. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and fellow QA automation engineers.*4 Month Summer Contract*

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop QA Automation tests for our Web application using the Playwright framework in Java and/or TypeScript
  • Perform manual QA testing on features as needs arise
  • Collaborate with an agile team (Software Engineers, Product Managers, UX Designers, QA Engineers) to ensure product feature quality
  • Assisting in defining, maintaining and improving automated test cases with data sets & configurations
  • Assisting in organising automation test set priorities and ranking, from regression pack to feature test suites
  • Seek to improve the framework by applying coding and organizational best practices
  • Grow as a valued quality assurance colleague by increasing your product knowledge & skill set to enhance Brightflag’s product quality
  • Participate in automation planning to improve automation coverage through teamwork

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role, you need:

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve & troubleshoot
  • Understanding of Web Applications, REST API web services
  • Ability to write & maintain automated tests in Java and/or Typescript
  • Highly collaborative working in a team
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • Good database knowledge & SQL skills
  • Working on BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field experience

The following are a bonus!

  • Understanding of agile methodologies & teams (Scrum, Kanban) 
  • Exposure to QA Automation testing and debugging (Functional, Performance, Security, Playwright, Selenium, etc.)
  • Entry level functional testing exposure
  • Understanding of distributed web system architecture
  • Related Certifications (e.g. language certs from LeetCode or HackerRank or other technology related certifications)
