Legal Analyst

Ireland

The Opportunity

Legal Analysts play a critical role in Brightflag, they are key to our daily operations. Firstly, as a Legal Analyst you will be responsible for capturing and flagging breaches of legal billing guidelines, which allows our clients (In-house legal teams from across the Globe) to generate significant cost savings on their legal spend, using our legal spend management platform. Secondly, you will play a key role in enhancing the accuracy of our AI, which enables our clients to have complete visibility of their legal spend. In addition, you will be trained on the full invoice lifecycle, enabling you to support the Business Analyst team , who review and validate client-submitted invoice data for accuracy, while leveraging internal and external tools to extract, analyse, and securely store the information.

By joining us, you’ll not only contribute directly to driving efficiency and innovation in the legal industry, but also gain valuable exposure to Brightflag’s cutting-edge legal technology.

*Note - This role is offered on a 12 month contract basis.

We are looking for someone who is available immediately/with 2 weeks notice.

What You Will Be Doing

  • The data you’ll work with mostly consists of Legal Invoices (submitted by legal vendors that our clients work with).
  • You’ll be working on both our internal application (where our AI technology categorises and classifies legal data from these invoices), and on our external spend management platform (which our clients and their legal vendors use).

Firstly, you’ll help our clients identify and generate significant cost savings.

  • Our clients (In-House Legal teams) have billing guidelines agreed with each of their legal vendors. These vary by vendor, location, work being done etc.
  • You’ll review automated flags that highlight breaches of these billing guidelines on our spend management platform. This allows clients that use our platform to be automatically notified of any billing breaches when reviewing their legal invoices. They’ll use this data to drive significant cost savings and identify inefficiencies in their legal spend.
  • As part of your role, you will receive training on the full end-to-end processing of an invoice from when it gets submitted to our platform to when it’s ready to be reviewed by our customers. This will give you in-depth knowledge of the invoice lifecycle and enable you to provide support to our Business Analyst team as required.

Secondly, you’ll play a key role in improving the accuracy of our AI.

  • No two legal invoices are the same. Individual client data varies depending on our clients' spend management agreements, or locations (EMEA, USA, Australia) or billing guidelines, number of vendors etc. As such, there are different levels of complexity to each.
  • You’ll apply your attention to detail & analytical skills to review a high volume of legal invoices that our AI has categorised.
  • You’ll ensure errors or misclassifications are amended & updated and invoice data is correct, before it reaches our clients.
  • You’ll work closely with our Data Science team to improve the accuracy of our AI.
  • With a great training program and supportive team, you’ll gain great insights into the legal world and legal technology.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role, you need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Law/ Recent Law Graduate - essential.
  • Ability to work towards and meet daily deadlines, while making sure your attention and focus never waivers.
  • Great attention to detail - You're the person that always spots the tiniest mistake and loves following a process.
  • Ability to remain self-motivated, working efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Strong communication skills - you’ll be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Solid collaboration skills - you enjoy working as part of a team to achieve a common goal.

The following are a bonus!

  • Recent work experience e.g., Legal Internship or post college work experience (6 months).
  • Experience working with MS Excel - no fear of numbers.
