The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join Brightflag’s legal & compliance team.  Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will support the business across a broad range of areas with a strong focus on commercial contracts, privacy, employment and emerging trends in legal operations, AI and technology. This is a hugely exciting time to join Brightflag’s legal & compliance team, where no two days are the same. To date, our legal & compliance team has played a key role in driving Brightflag’s sustained success, and our impact is set to become even more significant as we help shape the future of the business within a global leader.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts (SaaS licence agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, DPAs etc.)
  • Advising on regulatory compliance and obligations, in particular GDPR, CCPA, CPRA and the EU AI Act
  • Acting as a legal partner and trusted advisor to teams across the business to support and advise on legal matters as they arise (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, Finance and People Ops)
  • Advising on employment related issues in key jurisdictions
  • Supporting corporate governance workstreams including entity compliance
  • Focusing on legal operations; identifying and implementing opportunities for more efficient legal service delivery by leveraging automation and technology (in accordance with Brightflag’s AI Governance Framework)
  • Working closely with the Director of Compliance to support and deliver legal training required across the business and inputting into key compliance policies
  • Horizon scanning to keep ahead of legal trends, regulatory changes and best practice for all relevant geographies

 

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role you need

  • Qualified as a solicitor, barrister or hold a J.D. (c.3-5 years PQE)
  • Have in house-experience in a technology company
  • Experience gained within an international corporate law firm
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Negotiating commercial contracts (SaaS licensing agreements)
    • AI and data protection regulation, privacy and security issues
    • Corporate law matters
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable with prioritisation
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused mindset
  • Be intellectually curious and keen to learn
  • Strong communication skills

Location & Eligibility

This role offers a flexible work location across Ireland most of the time. Whether that be in the office, remote from anywhere in Ireland, or a mix of office/remote work in Ireland, you choose what works best for your lifestyle.

Regardless of where you choose to work most of the time, this role will be based in our Dublin office at least once a month to collaborate and meet in-person with your team.
