About Us

Brilla Public Charter Schools is a network of K-8th grade schools that currently serves 1,800 students from Mott Haven, University Heights, and other neighborhoods in the Bronx. The network is growing from its current four elementary and two middle schools to five elementary and five middle schools educating some 4,000 students in the Bronx and Paterson, NJ. The Charter Management Organization (CMO) for Brilla Schools Network is Seton Education Partners, an organization inspired by the Catholic educational tradition, that also manages the Seton Teaching Fellows missionary program and El Camino, an optional after-school Catholic faith formation program. At the heart of the Seton educational mission is our dedication to help students become young men and women of good character and spirit who are prepared for excellence in high school, college, and beyond.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

All Brilla teachers share a relentless belief and focus that scholars can and will achieve excellent academic outcomes and a robust character education. The key responsibilities and drivers to achieving outcomes for students include: 

  • Understanding, planning, and executing key elements of innovative pedagogy, co-teaching practices, and data-based decision-making through a deep love of learning
  • Establishing and maintaining a highly structured and welcoming classroom culture where scholars are supported in developing their own internalization and mastery of virtue
  • Provide a model of courage, justice, wisdom, and self-control, while championing a positive, flexible attitude and solution-based approach to challenges aiming to challenge the status quo of the current educational landscape in underserved communities
  • A desire to accept, implement, and seek feedback, and a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities while inspiring outstanding achievement in Scholars
  • Develop meaningful relationships with students,families and colleagues that inspire Scholars to love learning and achieve exceptional academic success

Brilla’s Middle School Science teachers are content experts who foster Science environments and mindsets where all scholars have access to grade level standards and demonstrate high levels of growth and achievement. The habits and practices that allow teachers’ to drive outcomes include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in ongoing professional development, including formal and informal observation and coaching cycles
  • Implementing looking at student work protocols, and data analysis practices and urgently responding to student data
  • Establishing and communicating standards and content-based objectives and regularly evaluating student progress toward mastery
  • Internalizing the provided curriculum, and teach rigorous, classically-inspired lessons that adhere with Brilla’s ambitious student growth targets
  • Collaborating vertically with content teachers, and laterally with grade-level teachers
  • Partnering with families to nurture a home to school connection that fosters shared accountability for scholars’ outcomes 

Qualifications

  • An unwavering, confident, and enthusiastic commitment to the educational mission of the Brilla Schools Network in service to the school community
  • A relentless dedication to providing all students with an academically robust, inspiring, and joyful learning experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Possession of current teaching certification as a Middle School and/or Science teacher (strongly preferred)
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Relevant educational setting experience with demonstrated student results (preferred)
  • Special Education credential and experience (strongly preferred)
  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred)

 

The base pay range for this position is $69,000-$98,500 per year in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Pay may vary within the stated range, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
