Position Overview The primary responsibility of an Elementary School Integrated Co-teaching (ICT) Specialist is to cultivate and lead a learning environment where every child feels safe and confident to strive for and meet Brilla’s ambitious targets. The Elementary School ICT Specialist understands, plans, and executes key elements of innovative pedagogy, co-teaching practices, and data-based decision-making through a deep love of learning and commitment to internalizing and teaching rigorous classical content in an inspiring and culturally relevant way. This position requires a classically-minded, positive, flexible, solutions-oriented, organized, and innovative educator who aims to challenge the status quo of the current educational landscape in urban areas. Brilla teachers must have a deep passion for student-engaged learning, a desire to accept, implement, and seek feedback, and a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities while inspiring outstanding achievement in children in a fun and collaborative work environment. Core Competencies & Responsibilities Serve as the special education teacher in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom, ensuring delivery of the ICT mandate as written on students’ IEPs in alignment with NYSED requirements Collaboratively plan with the general education teacher using academic and behavioral data to design instruction that embeds SDI aligned to IEP goals while ensuring students can access grade-level STEM curriculum and standards. Co-teach using a variety of co-teaching models intentionally selected to maximize student access to grade-level content Demonstrate deep knowledge of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) through clear, objective-driven instruction and active student engagement, and provide SDI tailored to meet the unique needs of each student with disabilities Serve as the case manager for assigned ICT students, including writing Present Levels of Academic and Functional Performance (PLOPs), teacher reports, and facilitating IEP meetings with the Committee on Special Education Progress monitor and document student progress toward academic IEP goals at required intervals and complete accurate IEP Progress Reports Use progress monitoring data to inform the revision and development of IEP goals, ensuring goals remain responsive to student growth and instructional needs Implement proactive behavior supports and environmental structures aligned to students’ IEP needs to maintain access to instruction Collaborate with colleagues to improve outcomes for students with disabilities and contribute to an inclusive learning environment across the school community Participate in school and community events to build strong relationships with colleagues and families and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture Participate in special education and content-specific professional development, grade team meetings, and school-based initiatives to continuously strengthen instructional practice Participate in MTSS meetings to analyze student data, contribute insights, and support the development of targeted interventions and instructional adjustments Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution Active New York State teaching certification in Students with Disabilities or currently enrolled in an NYSED-approved program leading to special education certification required.  Relevant urban, elementary teaching experience with demonstrated student results preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience using SESIS to manage IEP documentation (strongly preferred) Spanish language proficiency (preferred) BenefitsAt Brilla Schools, we celebrate the unique skills, experiences, and passions that each staff member brings to our mission. Position Overview Supervised by the Assistant Principal of Student Services, the Learning Specialist plays a unique role as a collaborator with teachers on various teams, as a family liaison, and as a small group and individual instructor of students with varying learning needs. Learning Specialists support every child in the grades they serve and foster deep connections with their colleagues and students. Successful Learning Specialists consistently help students achieve academically and socially: collecting, analyzing, and implementing data-based strategies for both the students on their caseload as well as students that have been identified as needing additional support. The Learning Specialist is in current possession of special education certification. Position Overview Reporting to the school principal, the High School Placement Counselor plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Brilla graduates by guiding them through the critical transition from middle school to high school. This dedicated individual is tasked with ensuring that every student is placed in a high-performing, college preparatory high school that aligns with their academic abilities, interests, and long-term educational goals. As a year-round position, the counselor is expected to work during the summer and over school breaks to provide continuous support and counseling services. The High School Placement Counselor supports students and families from 5th through 8th grade. This individual must present enrichment opportunities to eligible students in all grade levels to help students build their high school readiness early. A key part of this role involves partnering closely with families, going the extra mile to address their needs, and contributing to the support of our alumni, ensuring their ongoing success and connection to our community. Core Competencies & Responsibilities Student Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to students and their families, offering advice on high school selection, application processes, and preparation for high school admission exams. External  Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with high-performing, college preparatory high schools and middle school enrichment programs to stay informed on admissions criteria, processes, and opportunities for Brilla middle school students and graduates. Application Assistance: Assist students and families in completing high school applications, financial aid forms, and scholarship applications, ensuring all materials are submitted accurately and on time. Workshop Facilitation: Develop and facilitate workshops for students and parents on topics related to high school placement, such as understanding the high school admissions process, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. Data Tracking and Reporting: Maintain systems of detailed records of students' high school application processes, outcomes, and post-placement progress. Report data and insights to the principal and relevant stakeholders. High School Goals: Collaborate with campus teams to meet high school placement goals, including 25% of 8th grade students attending Vertex Partnership Academies in 9th grade.  Network Partnerships: Communicate regularly and proactively with school leaders, Brilla High School Counselors, and network teammates to ensure alignment in practices and access to opportunities across Brilla middle schools. Continuous Education: Stay informed on the latest trends and changes in high school admissions, including standardized test requirements, to provide up-to-date advice and support. Planning and Facilitating Student Sessions: Work with campus leaders to inform, develop and teach a high school readiness program during 7th and 8th grade advisory blocks.
