Associate Merchant

New York, New York

Overview

We’re excited to add an Associate Merchant to our Merchandising team to support the Bedroom category. This role is critical to driving Brooklinen’s next phase of growth—supporting an expanding newness pipeline, improving speed to market, and ensuring our assortment is both commercially strong and deeply aligned with our customers.

As we continue to invest in new product categories and launches, merchandising plays a central role in translating strategy into execution—balancing newness, core assortment, pricing, and storytelling to drive both revenue and profitability. In this role, you’ll own key merchandising workflows and analysis while supporting broader assortment strategy, helping ensure products move efficiently from concept to launch with clear visibility and strong execution.

Reporting to our Director of Merchandising, you’ll partner closely with teams across Product Development, Planning, Creative, and Site Operations to support assortment planning, analyze performance, and keep the product calendar running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

Support assortment strategy and execution

  • Support the development of seasonal assortment plans that balance newness, core products, pricing, and margin.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities across product categories and support roadmap planning by tracking product progress and flagging risks to timelines or assortment gaps.
  • Collaborate with Design and Production partners to bring products to market, delivering clear and actionable feedback at key stage gates such as sketch review and prototype meetings.

Analyze business performance

  • Own recurring reporting and support weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales analysis.
  • Pull and synthesize data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and contribute to recommendations across pricing, assortment, and product lifecycle actions.

Own merchandising operations and tools

  • Maintain accuracy across line plans, pricing updates, and assortment changes. Ensure product information is updated and aligned across systems, and take ownership of keeping products on the calendar and moving forward on time.
  • Partner in managing samples across multiple seasons, ensuring organization and timely alignment with key development meetings.

Partner cross-functionally

  • Work closely with Product Development, Planning, Creative, and Site Operations to support go-to-market readiness.
  • Help ensure product storytelling, categorization, and assortment presentation are clear and consistent, and that product information is accurately communicated across teams.

What success looks like in this role

  • Within the first several months, you’ll build a strong understanding of Brooklinen’s assortment strategy, merchandising tools, and product lifecycle processes.
  • You’ll take ownership of core merchandising workflows and ensure product data and tools are consistently accurate and up to date.
  • You’ll reliably deliver recurring reports and begin surfacing trends and insights that support product and pricing decisions.
  • Over time, you’ll strengthen your ability to connect data to action and contribute more meaningfully to assortment decisions.
  • You’ll help improve time-to-market by keeping timelines on track, proactively following up on dependencies, and ensuring strong coordination across teams.
  • You’ll build trusted relationships cross-functionally and become a dependable partner in supporting product launches and execution.

What we’re looking for

  • 2–4 years of experience in merchandising, buying, ecommerce, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear insights
  • High proficiency in Excel, including working with large datasets
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative working style
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities

Nice to have

  • Experience in home, DTC, or ecommerce merchandising
  • Experience supporting assortment planning, pricing, or product lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with merchandising tools, PIM systems, or product data platforms
  • Experience building reports or supporting analysis to inform business decisions
  • Experience leveraging visual merchandising skills to set up product presentations that clearly bring the merchandising vision to life
  • Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and accountability in prior roles

Compensation

Base salary range: $71,000–$85,000, plus equity.
Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, and market data.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
