Opportunity

As a Director at Brunswick, you will lead on the development and delivery of strategic communications plans, providing senior-level advice to a broad range of clients. You will bring bold, creative ideas to solve high-stakes issues, advising on critical matters that affect some of the world’s most influential organizations.

You will play a leading role as the day-to-day point of contact for clients, developing and landing proactive ideas that protect and enhance reputations. Alongside this, you will cultivate new business opportunities through Brunswick’s global network and your own external relationships.

Directors are also leaders of teams: ensuring smooth running of accounts, establishing clear roles, managing performance, and supporting professional development. Working closely with Partners, you will take responsibility for all aspects of client management, including account finances, fee negotiations, and adviser meetings.

Client Leadership & Campaign Delivery

  • Advise clients on a wide range of communications and reputational issues across industries.
  • Develop and activate integrated campaigns aligned to client objectives.
  • Lead research, benchmarking, issue analysis, and business case development to inform strategy.
  • Shape leadership strategies and provide counsel on competitive and market landscapes.
  • Regularly manage sensitive and complex media, stakeholder, or regulatory issues.
  • Forge and sustain impactful external partnerships across business, media, and civil society.
  • Facilitate client workshops and meetings, building trusted and enduring relationships.
  • Support new business generation by leveraging Brunswick’s global network and your own connections.

Team & Practice Leadership

  • Drive large, complex account teams, ensuring quality assurance and stepping in hands-on where needed.
  • Integrate diverse skillsets and perspectives into high-performing teams, often across geographies.
  • Apply project management tools and frameworks to deliver at pace with excellence.
  • Act as a development mentor for colleagues, empowering team members and fostering future leaders.
  • Model high standards of delivery, producing thoughtful and well-structured content and thought leadership.
  • Contribute to practice and sector development, sharing expertise across geographies and specialist offers.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years’ relevant professional experience, ideally in an advisory or consulting role in communications or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of business, reputation, and stakeholder dynamics, with first-hand experience of managing high-profile issues.
  • Strong network across business, regulatory, media, and stakeholder communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies that translate into programs with real, sustained impact.
  • Proven success in client management, including advising senior leaders with diplomacy and efficacy.
  • Strong experience in media-handling, with knowledge of sector-specific and broader media landscapes.
  • Excellent communication skills: articulate, persuasive, and engaging, both written and verbal.
  • High EQ, with the ability to operate with discretion, resilience, and empathy.
  • Commercial acumen, including experience managing account finances and driving business growth.
  • Confidence in using campaign data fluently to show insights and measure results 
  • A collaborative and collegiate team worker with a global outlook.
  • Balance of creative and analytical thinking, with rigour, accuracy, and attention to detail.
