Opportunity
Brunswick Group is seeking a Director to join our Mumbai office, advising clients across India and the wider region on high-stakes financial situations and moments of transformation.
Our work spans crisis and issue management, litigation, reputation management and contested financial situations, often in complex, fast-moving environments. The successful candidate will bring a nuanced understanding of India-specific business, regulatory, investor, and media dynamics, and ideally a blended background spanning advisory, in-house corporate experience, and media engagement.
Directors, alongside Partners, are senior leaders within the firm and drive client relationships, originating new business opportunities, and shaping sector and market leadership.
About the Role
Client Advisory & Leadership
- Provide senior strategic counsel to clients navigating financial situations, corporate transactions and crises.
- Advise Boards, CEOs, CFOs, and founders on stakeholder strategy, including investors, regulators, government, media, and employees
- Demonstrates a strong advisor–operator mindset, combining strategic counsel with hands-on execution to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.
- Demonstrates excellent leadership and team coordination skills, translating ideas into clear action plans and driving successful high-quality delivery.
- Demonstrates strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills, building trust with senior leaders and navigating complex environments, competing priorities, and diverse interests with diplomacy and sound judgment.
- Apply strong understanding of India’s capital markets, regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEBI, RBI), and promoter-led business dynamics
- Lead and manage complex, multi-stakeholder mandates, often under intense scrutiny and compressed timelines
- Ensure high-quality delivery and oversight of client work, including financial communications, positioning, and narrative development
Financial Situations Expertise
- Advise on M&A (public and private), IPOs, take-private transactions, restructurings, and special situations
- Support clients in hostile or contested scenarios, including defense strategy and stakeholder engagement
- Translate financial complexity into clear, compelling messaging for varied audiences
- Provide insight into investor sentiment, market dynamics, and reputational risk in deal situations
Business Development
- Partner with senior leadership to originate and convert new business opportunities
- Lead pitch processes, bringing differentiated insights into India market trends and sector dynamics
- Identify opportunities to expand relationships across Brunswick’s services (e.g., crisis, public affairs, ESG, digital)
- Build a strong external network across corporate leaders, bankers, lawyers, investors, regulators, and media
Media & Stakeholder Engagement
- Demonstrate strong relationships with top-tier Indian business and financial media
- Advise clients in both proactive positioning and high-pressure reactive situations
- Navigate India’s rapidly evolving digital and news ecosystem, including real-time reputation management
- Bring experience engaging with or operating within media environments to shape narratives effectively
Team Leadership
- Ensure the smooth running of client teams, maintaining clear sight of the operational effectiveness of accounts, providing direction and project management; working closely with Partners on all aspects of managing performance from account finances to team roles to client deliverables.
- Lead teams with a clear focus on account performance and client outcomes, ensuring seamless execution, strong financial management, and high client satisfaction.
- Develop colleagues below director level, actively support their talent and growth, and equip them to progress. Engage and collaborate with colleagues across the firm at all levels to bring different areas of expertise to our client work and to contribute to mandates led by other practices/ sectors/geographies
What We’re Looking For
- 10–15+ years’ experience in relevant experience in communications, consulting or a related advisory role. across a mix of:
- Financial, Consulting or Communications advisory
- In-house corporate (e.g., investor relations, strategy, communications)
- Exposure to or experience working with media
- Demonstrated experience advising on financial situations
- Strong understanding of India’s business landscape, including promoter-led companies, regulatory complexity, and capital markets
- Proven ability to engage and advise C-suite and Board-level stakeholders
- Demonstrates exceptional writing skills, bringing clarity, structure, and insight to complex issues and producing high-quality, impactful advisory materials for senior audiences..
- Established relationships with Indian business, financial and/or policy media
- Experience managing teams and delivering complex projects under pressure
