Investment Banking, Analyst, Energy & Infrastructure

Job Purpose:

BTIG seeks a highly motivated and high‑performing Investment Banking Analyst to join the Energy &Infrastructure team based in Texas (Dallas or Houston). The Analyst will play a critical role in supporting senior bankers across a variety of domestic and international corporate finance transactions. These include sell-side and buy-side mergers and acquisitions (M&A), public and private equity and debt capital raises, and strategic advisory assignments.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong financial background, exceptional analytical skills, and a keen interest in the broader energy and infrastructure landscape, including the upstream, midstream, downstream, and oilfield services (OFS) sub-sectors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and analyze complex financial models, including discounted cash flow (DCF), net asset value (NAV) for E&P companies, leveraged buyouts (LBO), accretion/dilution, and comparable company/precedent transaction analyses.
  • Assist in the day-to-day execution of M&A and capital markets transactions, coordinating closely with internal teams, legal counsel, and clients.
  • Prepare comprehensive marketing materials, including pitch books, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, and board materials.
  • Conduct in-depth research and strategic analysis on domestic and international energy markets. Monitor commodity price trends, regulatory changes, macro-economic drivers, and competitive landscapes across various sub-sectors.
  • Manage data rooms and coordinate the due diligence process for active transactions, including the detailed review of technical and financial documents.
  • Communicate effectively with senior bankers, clients, lawyers, accountants, and other advisors. Participate in client meetings and calls, providing analytical support and taking detailed notes for strategic follow-ups.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline with a strong academic track record.
  • 1–2 years of experience in Investment Banking, M&A, Corporate Development, Private Equity, or a closely related transaction advisory field. Prior exposure to the Energy, Infrastructure, or Oil & Gas sectors is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and M&A processes. Familiarity with oil and gas specific valuation metrics (e.g., EV/EBITDAX, $/flowing barrel, reserve life, NAV) is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, CapIQ) and industry-specific tools (e.g., Enverus) is advantageous.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a lean deal team structure. Must be able to manage multiple workstreams and projects simultaneously under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 licenses are preferred, or the candidate must have the ability to obtain them shortly after joining.

Compensation: 

  • BTIG offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, years of applicable experience, skills, qualifications, licensure and certifications, and other business and organization needs.
  • The current estimated base salary range for this role is $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year. Please note that certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus or overtime.
