Join our established traffic engineering team and take on meaningful work from day one. As a Traffic Engineer EI/EIT, you'll contribute to diverse projects for state DOTs and local municipalities across signal design, signing and pavement markings, lighting, ITS, and traffic studies. With each project, you'll grow in independence and responsibility, supporting project managers, mentoring junior staff, and building the technical and leadership foundation for a long-term career in traffic engineering.
What You’ll Do
- Facilitate day-to-day production of traffic design projects including signing and pavement markings, signals, lighting, traffic studies, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) with minimal supervisor oversight
- Develop and prepare project deliverables in collaboration with the project team, meeting objectives and schedules
- Prepare cost estimates for traffic-related project components
- Produce plans, specifications, and estimates using MicroStation, OpenRoads, and/or AutoCAD that meet agency standards
- Collaborate with engineering staff to resolve technical challenges while adhering to budgets and schedules
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to client deliverables
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program required
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern registration required
- 1 – 4 years of experience in traffic engineering design, traffic studies and plan development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MicroStation or AutoCAD; experience with AGI32, Synchro, HCS, TransModeler, or Vissim a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
