Traffic Engineer, PE

Join our traffic engineering team and take the lead on meaningful projects for state DOTs and local municipalities. As a Traffic Engineer PE, you'll own the full project lifecycle across traffic studies, signal design, signing and pavement markings, and traffic control, while mentoring junior engineers and maintaining quality, schedule, and budget. Beyond the technical work, you'll engage directly with clients and industry contacts, contributing to business development and firm growth.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee day-to-day production of traffic design projects, maintenance of traffic, signals, signing and pavement markings, and lighting for ODOT and local municipalities
- Lead and develop project deliverables in collaboration with the project team, meeting objectives and schedules
- Lead traffic studies and capacity analysis projects
- Prepare and review cost estimates for traffic-related project components
- Manage and coordinate project drawings using MicroStation
- Maintain quality control of plans, specifications, and deliverables
- Mentor and lead junior engineers on design tasks
- Support business development by engaging with industry contacts and identifying marketing opportunities
- Participate in project meetings and client communications
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program required
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the state of employment, or ability to be registered with reciprocity; PTOE preferred
- 4 – 10 years of related traffic design experience for state and municipal transportation clients
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation or OpenRoads; experience with AGI32, Synchro, HCS, TransModeler, or Vissim a plus
- Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
