More about the role
Burson Buchanan is a specialist communications consultancy advising listed companies, private businesses and growth companies across a range of sectors. We are particularly well known for our work in financial communications, investor relations and corporate reputation, with strong expertise in natural resources, energy and mining, alongside technology, industrials, professional services and other growth sectors.

We are looking for a Senior Associate (equivalent to Account Manager) to join our growing team. This is an opportunity for an ambitious communications professional who is ready to take ownership of client accounts, build trusted client relationships, and contribute to the growth of the agency.

As a Senior Associate, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality communications programmes while acting as a key point of contact for senior client stakeholders. You will have experience working with natural resources clients, ideally across mining, energy or broader commodities sectors, but will also be comfortable supporting clients across a variety of industries.

You will play an active role in media relations, content development, financial calendar communications, strategic planning, and account management. You will also contribute to business development, networking, and the agency’s marketing activities. This reflects the broader expectations of account manager-level roles within leading financial and corporate communications agencies.

What You'll Do
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of communications programmes for a portfolio of corporate and natural resources clients.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives, advisers, investors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute media relations strategies across financial, national, trade, and sector-specific media outlets.
  • Draft high-quality communications materials, including press releases, corporate announcements, thought leadership articles, presentations, and social media content.
  • Support financial calendar communications, including annual and interim results, transactions, and market announcements.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel, helping clients strengthen their corporate reputation and investment narrative.
  • Mentor junior team members, review deliverables, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Support business development activities through research, proposal writing, pitch preparation, networking, and identifying opportunities for account growth.
Experience That Contributes to Success
  • Multiple years of experience in financial PR, corporate communications, investor relations, or a related agency environment.
  • Proven experience managing multiple client accounts and building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong track record of securing media coverage and delivering successful media relations campaigns.
  • Experience supporting natural resources, mining, energy, commodities, or other industrial sector clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit high-quality communications materials for diverse audiences.
  • Experience supporting listed companies, including financial results, corporate announcements, and transaction communications.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to provide strategic recommendations.
  • Experience contributing to business development initiatives, including pitch preparation, proposal development, and account growth opportunities.
