 The Role:

We are looking for an experienced consultant to join our Corporate & Public Affairs team in Brussels, creating effective communication strategies for international clients across sectors and issues. This role reports to the Head of Corporate & Public Affairs and will be a senior member of the Corporate and Public Affairs team, managing junior colleagues and helping secure new business.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and implement impactful and integrated multi-market, multi-channel campaigns influencing debate on key issues of our time and driving our clients’ reputation and business outcomes. You will work with Burson’s Digital & Innovation team to provide best-in-market insights as well as the Creative & Content team to bring campaigns to life. You will build and deliver messaging and narratives, content and publishing plans, media and stakeholder strategies, executive training programmes, and crisis and issues management.

What you’ll do at Burson

  • Lead and manage client relationships, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Develop and implement creative, integrated communication strategies that align with clients' goals.
  • Through well-developed communication and issue management expertise, actively broaden the client discussion, by challenging and exploring potential areas of need and opportunity.
  • Challenge the thinking of teams and clients to deliver insightful, original, and actionable strategic communications advice.
  • Mix communications and public affairs strategies in campaign development to ensure a holistic approach.
  • Drive new business development efforts, identifying potential opportunities and building strong relationships with prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of projects.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, encouraging team members to explore new ideas and approaches within and beyond the realm of public affairs.

 

You’ll Bring With You

  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, policy communications, corporate communications, issues management and stakeholder engagement – ideally within an agency or in a client-facing role.
  • Exceptional client management skills, with a focus on delivering outstanding service.
  • Experience of applying creative thinking and integrated strategies to help clients advance their business objectives.
  • Ability to use innovative ways to advance and protect corporate reputation, manage issues, and support organisations navigating change.
  • Strong understanding of integrated communications and how to leverage various channels (online and offline) for maximum impact.
  • Superior presentation and writing skills.
  • Experience working on EU affairs is a plus, with good relationships in the influencer and media landscape in Brussels and beyond.
  • Familiarity with integrated multi-channel communication campaigns is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • An open, flexible, additive attitude.
  • Enthusiasm about challenging and being challenged.
  • Native or near-native level English. Other European languages are a plus.
