Overview

The Business of Fashion is seeking a highly strategic, creative, and operationally excellent leader to take on the role of Head of Events, reporting to the CEO with a dotted line into the Chief Business Officer. This is a pivotal role within BoF, responsible for overseeing our high-performing Events team and shaping the strategy, content, and execution of BoF’s flagship experiences: VOICES, BoF 500, Crossroads and the Global Beauty Forum, as well as our bespoke and partner events portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in driving BoF’s mission to connect and inspire the global fashion, beauty and luxury industries through world-class events that combine premium editorial content, thought leadership, and community engagement. As we stand at a strategic crossroads in the growth of our business, the Head of Events will help define and lead our events proposition—balancing commercial ambition with editorial excellence to deliver cutting-edge, global experiences with lasting impact.

What We Need You To Do

As Head of Events, you will serve as the strategic and operational leader for BoF’s global events business. You will own the end-to-end delivery of our events—from developing the creative vision and content strategy, to delivering complex, multi-format experiences that strengthen our brand and drive commercial value.

Working cross-functionally with our Editorial, Commercial, Community and Executive teams, you will ensure our events continue to set the standard for excellence across the fashion and beauty industries. You will be expected to lead with agility, creativity, and precision, ensuring our events consistently deliver value, insight, and connection for our growing global community.

There are four core components of this multi-faceted role:

Strategic Leadership & Content Programming

  • Serve as the strategic and business ownerfor BoF’s global event portfolio, with overall responsibility for the delivering programming, profitability, execution and impact of each event.
  • Design and deliver industry-leading content programming strategies across BoF’s flagship and bespoke events, in collaboration with thought partners including Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor of The Business of Beauty 
  • Shape thought leadership agendas that are provocative, inclusive, and globally relevant, reflecting BoF’s mission and values.
  • Maintain ownership of all speaker relations, from initial outreach and contract negotiation through to on-stage preparation and post-event follow-up.
  • Collaborate closely with brand partnerships team to integrate partners in line with client goals while maintaining BoFs editorial and company values
  • Ensure alignment across editorial and commercial functions, creating synergy between BoF’s content, brand, and business goals.

Event Production & Project Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end production of all BoF events (flagship and custom), managing the logistics, technical delivery, and audience experience with excellence.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and external vendors to execute multi-day, high-impact global events across three to four continents annually.
  • Own relationships with venues and production partners, negotiating contracts and ensuring brand alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Act as the lead project manager on all events, ensuring timelines, budgets, creative deliverables, and resources are aligned for success.
  • Deliver  seamless experiences that include mainstage content, private dinners, wellness activations, performances, and networking moments tailored to C-suite and VVIP audiences.

Commercial & Operational Oversight

  • Take full ownership of the events budget, managing P&L, driving profitability, and reporting regularly to senior leadership stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Brand Partnerships, and Content Strategy teams to explore new revenue-generating opportunities and define growth strategies.
  • Lead contract negotiations with key external collaborators, including agencies, vendors, speaker bureaus, and talent managers.
  • Use data and insights to refine the format, content, and delivery of events to better serve our community and meet key business targets.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a BoF brand ambassador at global events and with our highest-profile stakeholders—including VVIP guests, speakers, and partners.
  • Ensure all guests experience an exceptional, premium journey—from pre-event communications to on-site delivery and post-event engagement.
  • Own and manage all VVIP and industry partner relationships in relation to events, ensuring high-touch service and meaningful connections.
  • Work closely with the Community and Marketing teams to align engagement strategy with content and audience development.

Who You Are

You are a dynamic leader with deep expertise in global event production, editorial programming, and commercial strategy. You bring creativity, operational excellence, and diplomacy to everything you do. With experience producing high-profile events for global B2B audiences, you thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing creative ambition with meticulous attention to detail.

You are strategic and hands-on in equal measure, and bring the following skills and experience to the table:

  • Extensive experience in large-scale event leadership within the media, luxury, and/or creative industries.
  • A proven track record of producing best-in-class events across in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.
  • Strong editorial sensibility and experience building global content agendas for executive audiences.
  • Outstanding project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams under pressure.
  • Commercial acumen with experience managing complex budgets and contributing to revenue growth.
  • Impeccable stakeholder management skills, particularly when working with C-suite executives, partners, and VVIPs.
  • Knowledge of the global fashion, beauty, luxury and/or cultural landscape is a strong advantage.
  • Commitment to excellence, empathy, and discretion in everything you do.

  • Franchise and custom events are delivered efficiently and effectively, all while providing a premium service to VIPs, speakers, guests, and delegates alike.
  • NPS scores sit above 80
  • Each event delivers on profitability goals
  • Event feedback from VIPs, speakers, guests, and delegates is outstanding, and the content so impactful that it creates continuing discussion within both the fashion industry, and other industries beyond ours.
  • Data from the events is insightful and utilised to report to key stakeholders, as well as directing and influencing the delivery and content of future events.
