Editorial Operations Associate

London

Overview

BoF is looking for an Editorial Operations Associate to join our Content Operations team. This is not an entry-level role: we're looking for someone with 2–3 years of experience in a newsroom, publishing house or similar media environment, who can take real ownership of editorial production, AI-assisted workflows and support the key editorial products like BoF 500.

You'll be trusted to run processes independently, make judgment calls under deadline pressure and work closely with editors and reporters, as well as the Design, Social Media and Multimedia Teams.

BoF is also becoming an AI-native company, and this role sits close to that shift: you'll use our approved AI tools daily, help shape how the newsroom adopts them, and hold the line on human verification and editorial standards as automation expands.

Who you are

You have a depth and breadth of experience working in a newsroom, publishing house, media company or similar fast-paced editorial environment, and you're ready to take full responsibility for processes. You're comfortable being the person others rely on to keep production moving and you bring judgment, not just diligence, to your work.

You'll also have:

  • Proven experience working on editorial production processes with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional proofreading skills, with a sharp eye for house style and consistency
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in a professional workflow — for research, drafting, transcription, formatting or quality checks — and the judgment to know where AI helps and where it doesn't
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to run multiple work-streams at once without dropping detail
  • A nose for relevant news stories across fashion and beauty, and the confidence to make editorial judgment calls under deadline
  • Clear, concise and accurate writing
  • Experience coordinating across teams — editors, reporters, design, social media, etc. — to get a piece of content from brief to publication
  • A sense of curiosity and intellectual scepticism, including about AI-generated output
  • Openness toward and honesty regarding feedback
  • A creative flair for image selection, presentation and chart ideas; working knowledge of Photoshop would be an asset
  • Comfort working with global, cross-timezone teams (New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Milan, London)
  • A willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of a 24-hour news cycle

You’ll Know You’re Successful When

  • Editorial operations run smoothly with minimal need for oversight, and you're proactively flagging risks before they become problems
  • Features and news articles are published according to house style and free of errors
  • Articles are supported by strong, engaging and on-brand visuals
  • The BoF 500 update programme runs to plan, with accurate, verified, on-brand profiles delivered to deadline
  • AI-assisted workflows you've built or refined are adopted by colleagues and measurably speed up or improve production, without compromising accuracy
  • Case studies, charts and multimedia assets are complete, accurate and consistent at publication
  • You end your working day with clear, meticulous handovers to the New York-based Editorial team, covering news, social, production and newsletters
  • You work seamlessly with New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Milan and London colleagues
