About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Test and Validation Engineer to join our hardware engineering team. The ideal candidate will ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of embedded systems and hardware products through comprehensive testing methodologies. This role is integral to maintaining our commitment to delivering cutting-edge high quality products to our customers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in testing embedded systems and hardware products, specifically IoT devices
- Proven experience with embedded debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Familiarity with RF testing methodologies and equipment
- Familiarity with different sensor technologies and calibration methods
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, C/C++) for automation
- Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN)
- Expertise in networking, communication protocol test and debug for WiFi, Cellular, BLE, Zigbee technologies
- Excellent skillset in drafting detailed test plans that are easy for technicians to follow, and maintaining clear and concise documentation of test plans, test cases, test results, and defect reports
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Bonus Qualifications:
- Knowledge of PCB testing and design validation
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
- Experience with thermal testing and simulations
- Prior experience working with vendors outside of the US (e.g., China), contractors, and 3rd party testing labs
- Ability to build test racks and automation systems for testing large volumes of devices
Responsibilities:
- Test Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and document test plans, test cases, and test scripts for embedded systems, sensing systems and hardware products based on design specifications and requirements
- Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to understand product architecture and features
- Test Execution:
- Conduct functional, integration, system, and regression testing on embedded hardware and firmware
- Perform hardware validation and verification tests, including, power consumption, thermal performance, antenna range measurements
- Automation and Tools Development:
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test setups by developing scripting languages
- Identify, document, and track issues using bug tracking tools
- Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and firmware issues
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure products meet industry standards, safety, and regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, FCC, CE)
- Support environmental and reliability testing (e.g., vibration, shock, and environmental stress screening) and co-ordinate with third party labs
- Continuous Improvement:
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and testing efficiency
- Stay updated on the latest tools, techniques, and trends in QA for embedded and hardware engineering
