
Country Manager
We’re thrilled to bring Butternut Box to Italy and we’re searching for an inspirational and strategic leader to spearhead this exciting journey. As our Italy Country Manager, you’ll be at the helm of our expansion, transforming Butternut Box into a household name for dog owners across Italy. Your mission? Establish Butternut as the leading D2C subscription fresh pet food brand in Italy while staying true to our core values of care, quality and customer delight.
This role is about building, leading and growing. You’ll own the market entry strategy and drive sustainable business growth, balancing both top and bottom line success. To excel, you’ll need eCommerce/D2C expertise, a deep understanding of Italian consumers and an unwavering commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.You'll have the autonomy to build and nurture a high-performing team, shaping a culture that embodies our values. A natural leader, you know when to coach, when to mentor, and when to empower, ensuring your team thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Our mission is to help dogs live healthier, happier and longer lives whilst leaving humans smiling after every interaction. We’ve come a long way since our co-founders (Kev & Dave) hand-delivered the first Butternut Box, we now feed a lot of dogs across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands & Poland - but we want to feed dogs everywhere. And to do this, we need a team of brilliant people who share that ambition to come and work with us.
🌱 In this role, you will…
- Lead the launch and operation of Butternut in Italy, driving hands-on execution, overseeing day-to-day operations and shaping the commercial strategy.
- Build and nurture a high-performing, supportive and inclusive local team, empowering them to do their best work while fostering a sense of belonging to our other Butternut locations.
- Develop deep connections with our UK team (‘Box Office’) and other Country Managers in Europe (Netherlands, Germany & Poland), ensuring a seamless alignment of our mission, culture, and ways of working.
- Live and breathe the Butternut values. Consistently putting the customer first in your decision making, ensuring they always have the best possible experience.
- Bring the Butternut brand to life in Italy, tailoring it to resonate with the local audience while maintaining our core messaging.
- Own the Italian P&L, balancing sustainable growth with thoughtful investment in the market.
👋 A bit about you…
- You are bilingual, fluent in both Italian and English.
- You bring strong experience in a growth-focused, commercial, or leadership role, ideally in eCommerce or D2C, with a customer-first mindset.
- You lead with empathy, knowing how to balance coaching and mentoring to create a positive and collaborative team culture.
- You’re a natural relationship-builder, able to connect with teams across different locations and build strong partnerships.
- You thrive in a dynamic environment, embracing challenges with confidence and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- You are excited about joining a mission-driven company that genuinely cares about its customers - both two and four legged!
